I don't know, depends on terrain, but I'm not really doing more than 5k at the moment, which including a brisk walking warm up takes about 34 mins. I ran just over 5k in a local Santa race at the weekend, which was muddy, slippy, occasionally hilly and with lots of bottlenecks, so took me a bit longer to get around!

I too don't enjoy running with other people, it just leads to self-loathing about why I can't go faster, especially when they talk about 5k taking less than 30 mins, and a slow 10k being under an hour (the one time I ran a 10k, it took me about an hour and 13, and it was a big achievement for me but completely spoiled by how slow it was compared to friends. They were all really encouraging, but it still made me feel like crap).

ididntmeanitlikethat · 05/12/2017 20:53

I’ve just completed c25k too and now running with a running club. Can do around 6k in 40 mins but aiming for 7k tomorrow. Wish me luck Grin

soupmaker · 05/12/2017 20:56

About an hour and half. Do 10k in just over an hour and can do 5k in under 30 minutes on a good day. Never run more than 30 minutes on a treadmill though, it's much harder than running outdoors.

Nazdarovye · 05/12/2017 20:57

I never tried my limit but what would be the point? I usually run for 30 minutes because I think it's enough for me. It gives me enough cardio fitness and running more would just make me lose weight. I don't understand people who run for hours. They just look tired and haggard. Waste of time.

Wrongornot · 05/12/2017 21:04

6 hours 1 minute and 32 seconds Grin that's how long it took me to run 33 miles last month.

2 years ago I couldn't run for 30 seconds and had to repeat week 1 of c25k 3 times!

museumum · 05/12/2017 21:04

Longest I’ve ever run in a treadmill is about 40minutes.

Longest outside is 2.5 hours (my slowest half marathon - it was on trails).

Blackandpurple · 05/12/2017 21:13

Ona treadmill max 30 mins. Bores me to death.

Outside 2 hours is what i take to run a HM.

Stop start Marathon took over 5 hours.

emummy · 05/12/2017 21:15

My longest was a marathon, so 4hr and 53 minutes! When I started, it was one very long minute.
The range of answers you've had OP illustrates for me the best thing about running. Some people are happy at short distances, some very long (wow wrongornot!), some do races or park run every week, some people would be happy never to do a race. And all of this is fine, running can be what you want; can't be bothered with people who think you have to go a certain speed or run a certain distance.
Well done on your 15 minutes, hope you carry on and enjoy it.

AfterSchoolWorry · 05/12/2017 21:18

About 30 seconds.

feral · 05/12/2017 21:19

Now I've just completed couch to 5k I can run 30 minutes very slowly! Before that barely a minute!

FreshHerbs · 05/12/2017 21:21

Thanks emummy

I could run for a bus and that's it!

Remember the episode of friends when Phoebe runs? Yeah just like that Grin

Summerof85 · 05/12/2017 21:42

It depends on how I'm feeling and whether I'm injured or I'll!! I've ran on and off since school, this year I ran a 10k for the first time in 9 years. Bless know what you mean about Parkrun, ran it on Saturday for the first time in over a month. I do it as I enjoy running with other people and it pushes me a bit. Came 7th last out of over 200 runners. At ours there seems to be a lot of very fast runners who use it as a training run. It is a bit demoralising when you finish and nearly everyone has disappeared home. Maybe it's just this parkrun but think the parkrun was supposed to be for all abilities, I ran it in just under 36 minutes. But whether it's 15 minutes or 5 hours, if you feel you have achieved something thats the main thing. Well done OP! X

LaurieFairyCake · 05/12/2017 21:58

About 15 seconds

Maybe

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 05/12/2017 22:03

2 hrs 14 would be the longest I've done. I still remember the elation of conquering the first 8 minute block of C25k which was the longest I'd ever gone in one go before, even at school.

Chilver · 06/12/2017 13:12

Wow, you guys are all amazing!

I started the C25K at the end of summer - I got to week 6 but then stops from pains in my shins (shin splints I guess) and then a chest infection. I started again this morning Grin

however, even getting to week 6, I cannot seem to run for 20 mins without stopping! I can run for 12 minutes, then stop for even 30 seconds, and then run another 8-10 minutes but can't seemt o break through 12 mins... Sad

Is it mental, can anyone give me some advice on how to push through that silly little barrier and time?

(I would say i'm not a natural runner; have always done lots of competitive team sports pre-child/ cancer but never enjoyed running, just did it for fitness. However, I have actually really started to enjoy my runs - just need to get through the mental barrier to run without stopping for longer!!)

MaidOfStars · 06/12/2017 13:29

A marathon. Around 4 hours 30.

soupmaker · 06/12/2017 18:16

Chilver This is a good articlee on shin splints. My advice on managing to run for longer is slow down. You need to allow your body adjust and get used to running slowly. With C25K don't try and rush - stick at the same week until you manage it.* It's a marathon not a sprint!

soupmaker · 06/12/2017 18:18

Sorry about the poor formatting! Juggling children.

MarklahMarklah · 06/12/2017 18:29

I don't know how long, but I know how far. I'm returning to running after about 8 years off.
Been at it around 3 months.

First time I ran I managed to go about 200 yards. Totted up last week's and it was just under 3k. Very out of shape still, but I am gradually building up my stamina. I'm aiming to be able to run 5k by February.

ArgyMargy · 07/12/2017 07:53

Chilver I didn't start running until I was in my forties. The most important thing you can do to avoid shin splints and other injuries is to get yourself a decent pair of running shoes. I learned that lesson the hard way!* * And yes, slow down Grin

paap1975 · 07/12/2017 07:58

I can do about 2h30, which is the time it takes me to run a half-marathon. I was previously obese and started running once I was a healthy weight. The trick is just to increase little by little. I thought it was a miracle the first time I ran 3km. Never in a million years did I think I could do 21!

AuntieStella · 07/12/2017 08:04

I've been running for about 15 months, and my longest run (last month) was 10miles in about an hour and a half.

I'm training for a half marathon next year, so need to get it up to 2 hours running time.

givemushypeasachance · 07/12/2017 16:08

I can do 5km in just under 35 minutes, haven't gone much beyond that without stopping. With a couple of breather breaks at traffic lights and a 30 second walk up a hill once or twice I've done about an hour of that sort of pace jogging.

Only started getting into exercise this summer - before that I'd never managed to even make it once round a 400m track at school or anything. I had a BMI of 33 and C25K was a daunting mountain. With some healthier eating and quite a bit of time put into light-to-moderate cardio type activities, my BMI is now 26 and I'm doing parkruns and going out for an evening jog with a feeling of anticipation rather than dread. Still can't quite believe it! I'm not a fast runner, but I run and I'm proud.

ThursdayLastWeek · 07/12/2017 16:16

Yesterday I ran the furthest I ever have - 13.75miles in about 2.5 hrs.

I don’t normally run further than half marathon distance but I’m marathon training...so I gotta.

10k in under an hour is my comfort zone.

I love the running community in all it forms, well done OP!
