Thanks London and mines and well done too!

We seem to be on a similar race schedule mines Grin though I don't have anything in the diary before March. Will need to get on to entry central!

Not got out of bed yet, wondering how sore the quads are going to be after the downhill sections yesterday. Was really tired and sore when I went to (early) bed last night.

purple where was your 10k yesterday? It sounds very similar to mine!
I'm doing OK this am no sore joints but the soles of my feet are sore which has never happened before. Really hope my trainers aren't already on the way out. That said I've done lots of walking too over the last few days.

Actually no it can't be the same if yours was bright blue sky as mine was icy rain Shock

Report
minesapintofwine · 06/11/2017 07:59

I looked back and it definitely isn't the same . Mine was the Richard Burton 10k in the Swansea valleys. Very very uphill ShockConfused and very very Welsh. We sang the national anthem first and instead of a medal you get a slate coaster and a Welsh cake Grin . Entertainment follows in the rugby club! That said there were 1500 runners from all over (Inc England!!!Wink)

Oh and there was a beer stop enroute.

I'm on a high this am lol.

Hello all,
Can I join in please?
I am running the Liverpool Half in March in memory of a dear friend and I am no runner.

These last couple of weeks I have been running a couple of times a week and have built up to doing 5k. I’m going to try and add a kilometre a week until I get to 10K and then I’m not sure what to do after that!

I’ve never ran before but I usually get to the gym for a body pump and a couple of Pilates sessions a week so am reasonably fit.

Looking forward to challenge and i’ll be running with some of my besties from uni in the city where we all met so that will help me get round I’m sure.

That sounds brilliant mines! A coaster much better than a medal.

I've done my 10miler!

I am now considerably more optimistic that I'll be able to get round my HM next spring.

But my hips are aching so much. Can't face even the gentlest of recovery jogs.

Well done stella! That’s brilliant! I really need to try and do a 10, had big plans for sun Morning but couldn’t Force myself out of bed so only 6miles for me.

mines I'd do anything for a genuine Welsh cake - I grew up near Swansea and I miss them so much. The mini ones in M&S just aen't as good as the real thing....

Brioche if you pm me your email address I'll send you a copy of the "just get me round" training plan from last years Royal Parks HM. It is a run walk programme which starts at 5k - it got me round in 2.20 so worth a shot if you don't mind not being that fast.

Oh thanks Londonmummy. That will be really helpful and I’d love a time like that.
Will pm you now.

It was an actual event - I have bling!

10 mile events are less common than 10Ks or HMs, but there's still a fair number around. And if you enter one, you'll have to get up and do it!

Try searching for events here:

mines my 10k was in Scotland. No bling, but a race t shirt and bag, plus hot soup and a roll afterwards. Yum. Yours sounds more uphill than mine was Grin

Out for a wee recovery jog after work tonight, I'm a bit sore. The dreaded foam roller may need to make an appearance!

Well done on the 10 miler Stella

Welcome Brioche

Well done those who did races this weekend!

I was away this weekend so no exercise! Promised myself I’d go for a run on Monday as DH and I were both off work and he wanted some daddy time with the baby...lo and behold I wake up on Monday absolutely loaded with the cold. Barely able to lift my head off the pillow.

Still struggling today so I doubt I’ll get a lunch time run in either (was planned for tomorrow). Just typical.

On the plus side I ordered myself some long sleeved running tops for this cold weather (I’m in Scotland!) as all my pre-pregnancy winter stuff is skin tight. So I’m all set to get back to it as soon as I’ve recovered!

Once ds wakes, I'm attempting a 4.5 mile buggy run. I've found it really hard before, but it's a slow paced run on my marathon plan, so I'll be taking it easy

I've not been at all last week or this week. Just the 10k on Sunday. Life has gotten in the way but also not having any races looming is making me a bit lazy. My next chance is Tuesday so I'll restart my routine then.

Well done to everyone else!

Joining back in!

Got a 10k on Sunday. Really can't be bothered. Life is too busy! And it's not my preferred distance now. Much prefer the half! Sod all training done but it's charity.

Got a 10 miler booked for December, 5k Jan, hm Feb and hm March. Hoping to do a race a month/12 races in the year (assume no races wedding month!) with the aim of ultramarathon October (jumping marathon completely)

I might have gone mad.

Went out early before work to do 5k at 6:30am, was first time in a while I had long sleeved top & jacket & winter full length leggings, plus fleece head band brrr there was frost on cars but I love running when it’s crisp like that Grin plus I felt all self righteous at work eating chocolate thinking yah I’ve earnt it Grin

Had a quiet couple of weeks with life getting in the way so only managed 12 miles a week. Aiming for slightly more this week and have a 5 mile trail race on Saturday which will be fun.

Knocked 1 min 30 odd off my "home" parkrun PB - now in the 31s on one of the top 50 hilly UK parkruns. Was hard though and had to take a breather before scanning my barcode I was that dead. Probably pushed too hard on the flat first loop and didn't ease back enough on the down before the big up but kept running even though some people were walking faster.

Not booked anything for next year. Might do an early half though and definitely lots of 10ks after my 8+ mile hilly trail run in December.

Feeling a bit better today but still off work so did a kettlebell workout during the baby’s morning nap time. Better than nothing! Definitely planning a run on Sunday morning and then on Wednesday lunch time.

19 weeks til the half marathon but trying not to think about that and just take it one week at a time!

Well done everyone!

I did an accidental 8 miles today. Had exepected to do a 5, went down a footpath that I was ‘sure’ I knew where it went, several fields later and a brief panic, it ended up being an 8. Glad to have upped things with no choice though!

Well done everyone especially the little trigirls. I managed a 10 mile run this morning mainly along the Thames path so there was a series of boat races to distract me. Legs are complaining like mad but this time last month I was still banned from running so I'm feeling a bit more positive now.

Next week is a slightly cut back week but by end of the year I am hoping to have knocked off a 13 mile run just to prove to myself that I can do the half in March....
