I did the first run today, it was quite tough Blushjust looking for some reassurance and encouragement really. I have a tendency of not sticking to things/making excuses and would love to see myself get fitter over time.. motivation/tips/stories needed!

Thanks x

Sleeping I've had issues with calf pain - I find ibuprofen gel helps

BowiesBlueEye · 12/06/2017 22:26

I've graduated! I've been continuing the running for 2 weeks and my first 5k race is in 3 weeks.

I'm hoping this is the start of a healthy new life for me...I've lost 9" from my waist! Shock

Before and after pics from the 8 weeks of running plus dieting using MFP Smile

winkywinkola · 12/06/2017 22:52

Wow Bowiesblueeye. Just wow. Well done.

You look great. YOu must feel great. How impressive!

Will you just run and run now? 10k?

Sleepingonthebus · 13/06/2017 06:49

Thanks Pennina I didn't think of that

debjani · 13/06/2017 07:02

I have lost almost half a stone in about 6 weeks although I am doing zumba twice a week as well. I am doing the C25K at my own pace so I did week 1 twice and am doing week 2 twice as well before moving on. I felt fitter surprisingly quickly!

WheresTheEvidence · 13/06/2017 11:34

Well done bowie. I just need to atop eating crap alongside the running and maybe I can lose some weight/inches too.

A friend and I have started a "running" group we went out Friday and then this morning we did a morning run before work! I need to pick up speed but I can now run for 30 minute duration but just slowly!

BowiesBlueEye · 13/06/2017 12:41

Thanks, I still have 4 stone to go so I'm still pretty slow when I'm running. Im still out 3x a week plus parkruns but I'm hoping to start 5k to 10k once I'm comfortably running 5k. (This could take a while!)

I'm hoping to do a 10k race this time next year. I've definitely caught the running bug. My ultimate goal is a half. I'm 37 this year, I'd like to do one before I'm 40.

BorisTrumpsHair · 13/06/2017 16:40

I've just started - run 3 tomorrow.
I never thought I could do this, but I started walking to work mid April and was walking 4.2km each way to work 3-4 days a week. I quickly grew much stronger. I have old knee and ankle injuries and much to my surprise they started to improve and get stronger.

Then the morning after the election I just started (very slowly) jogging bits of my walk and it felt really fantastic. So I downloaded the NHS couch 2.5 k ap & now I have Sarah Millican urging me on Grin

I jog very slowly and cautiously - my shins hurt a bit but otherwise its OK and it feels great. Little by little.

I'm nearly 50, have a desk job & 2 young DC, no time to exercise otherwise, and I'm totally loving this exercise boost.

It's very inspiring reading your stories.

BorisTrumpsHair · 13/06/2017 16:40

Oh & my BMI is 37 Shock

SkiBike007 · 13/06/2017 16:49

Well done borishair little by little is how we all started I couldn't run 2-3mins to start with and now run for an hour, it's taken me longer to get there as age & joints ache n creak more but it's a fab feeling.

WheresTheEvidence · 13/06/2017 17:38

I couldn't run 60 seconds without being out of puff 6 weeks ago. Today I went for a 20 minutes run - just running in the morning and then out by myself this afternoon to do week 6 Day 3. I added some extra time to it and got back to see that I've run 5k (I probably walked 15 minutes uses of it) and found I covered 1k in 7 minutes 1 mile in 13 minutes and 5k in 45min. Am in shock. If I spoke to the person I was in April they would be shocked and surprised. Come on ladies we can do this!

Pennina · 13/06/2017 17:49

Yay boris! I am on week two. I'm 53, Also 2 school age kids and my bmi is 35. When I started I couldn't even run for 30 seconds and I am now just about managing 90 seconds

WheresTheEvidence · 14/06/2017 17:19

So did another 5k run - mainly running - 43.55 minutes.

Now if only I could get the clean living/healthy eating bug I'd be on my way.

SkiBike007 · 14/06/2017 20:48

That's great evidence I've been low carbing the last 6wks and it's really cut my sugar intake down as I just haven't wanted it, ive stopped calorie counting and just been enjoying my food, without the bread/pasta/pots/cakes it's been bit of a revelation. I've lost 8lbs so far but really toned up through running and swimming so I look like I've lost more weight. I'd like to lose another 14lbs to get in the next size jeans in my waldrobe Smile

WheresTheEvidence · 14/06/2017 21:57

Thanks Ski. I've been trying to low carbon but I thibk I really need to get on it next week. I'm also cutting out sugar but I need to stop snacking!

BorisTrumpsHair · 14/06/2017 23:00

One week down and looking forward to next jog on Friday.

BorisTrumpsHair · 14/06/2017 23:00

You are all amazing! X

Pennina · 15/06/2017 12:36

Week 2 run 2! Not too bad I actually managed all of the runs. I feel I am making some very slow progress. I think I will do week two again as I don't feel confident enough to go to week three yet. I'm just delighted I am able to make this progress at all! When I started I could only run for 30 seconds and I am now running for 90 seconds so for me that is a major improvement. Smile

Thirtyrock39 · 15/06/2017 22:11

Woohoo completed the c25k today! It was the fitness 22 one only annoying thing is I walk kids to school then run and forgot to turn it on for warm up walk so wasn't quite up to 5k in the time but still can't believe that when I started could barely manage a minute of jogging and today jogged for 35 minutes !! So chuffed with myself and def going to keep running - going to do a map my run on Sunday and officially break the 5k barrier !

SkiBike007 · 16/06/2017 22:00

Well done thirtyrock it's a great feeling, be proud and keep going it's a great buzz. I've nearly done a year since starting and run twice a week now, one 5k & one 10k never thought I'd be a "runner"Grin

countycouncil · 16/06/2017 22:47

First time contributing to this thread but I've been following the success stories. Started C25k in early April and literally couldn't climb a flight of stairs without being out of breath let alone run for more than about 15 seconds. I'm just about to start week 8. It's an incredible program. I'm proud of myself and always delighted after I run but find the act of running really boring! I seem to spend the 30 odd minutes furiously calculating how many more minutes till it's over!

winkywinkola · 17/06/2017 13:14

I did it! My first 5kms! 38 mins.

So happy. I hope to get stronger and fitter and on and on.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/06/2017 16:40

I did my first 30 minute run yesterday so two more to go until I am a graduate. I am so pleased with it and would like to keep going. I have amazed myself by liking running.

Sleepingonthebus · 19/06/2017 16:24

Week 5, Day 1 just completed and I think it's my favourite run so far.
