Throughthick, we all have bad days! Good luck with your repetition on Thursday.....

HookedOnHooking · 02/06/2015 18:59

W4 R1 done. Had to force myself out but glad I did. It's harder in the evening than first thing in the morning.

McButtonwillow · 02/06/2015 19:57

W4 R1 also done here this morning. It was perfect running weather for me cool and windy and the jump from 3 to 5 mins was actually ok. I can definitely feel my fitness improving and I noticed on today's run my breathing was much better. I couldn't run for 60 secs before without being really puffed out- today I felt like I could've gone longer then 5 mins but my legs were aching too much!

lbnblbnb · 02/06/2015 20:11

DontDoItDi we are getting to Knoydart by boat, then lots of walking while we are there. Really looking forward to it.
Week 2 Run 2 done - Nike + says 2 miles including warm up/cool down walks. I got home lateish, husband had to go straight out but I decided to run on the track outside the house, up and down. My son came out and joined me, he has such natural joy in running. He was even jumping from side to side as he ran. Once I have improved I want to take both kids to a Parkrun, I think they would really like it.

midnight1983 · 02/06/2015 20:16

Hi all, am now on wk2run2 but am really struggling with upper thigh pain, just in one leg, towards the end of the run. Afterwards it's hard to walk but is generally manageable/just a muggle by next day. Has anyone experienced this and is it just a case of beginner running issues? Don't want to give up!

lbnblbnb · 02/06/2015 20:32

I am no expert Midnight1983 but I had a pain similar - right at the top of my leg, felt like it might be a tendon or something. Rest days always sorted it and it got better as I got stronger. You can find stretches that might help on google or Pinterest.

lbnblbnb · 02/06/2015 20:34

Just realised we are at the same point Midnight1983. I am really excited to be working my way through the programme again, I can't wait to get to 5K again. I daydream about 10K as I do my intervals...!

Rumours · 02/06/2015 22:19

Hi I'm new to running, I haven't ran since school and was rubbish at it then, but I need a free way to get fit and people I know have raved about c25k.
Im about 3.5 stone over weight and very unfit. Do you think it's doable. Any very overweight runners out there that have had success with this? Would love some tips Smile

Kleinzeit · 02/06/2015 22:29

Your Knoydart holiday sounds lovely lbnblbnb!

lbnblbnb · 03/06/2015 06:09

Rumours I want to lose just a bit less than you. Have a look at the timings of the run/walk splits - it is very gentle to start with. "run" can be very slow to start with - I used to try to go far too fast the first time I went through this programme.

Dismalfuckers · 03/06/2015 07:54

Ok, feel obliged to continue now, despite lumbering slownessGrin

W2D3 today when dcs dropped off....

Dismalfuckers · 03/06/2015 09:42

I've done it! And furthest and least slow yet. All relative.

I know this is a bit thick, but do you count your warm up/cool down walking bits in the pace and distance covered? I do, but makes me even more disappointingly slow paced!

McButtonwillow · 03/06/2015 12:25

Brilliant dismal.

I count my warm up/cool down, mainly because I like to have all my apps running on my phone before I leave the house. It does make my pace slower though.

In general though I am a slow runner, I'm hoping as my stamina improves my speed will eventually improve as well Smile

Bramshott · 03/06/2015 12:32

For various, mostly work-related reasons I haven't made it out for a run for a week now.

But feeling quite excited about getting back to it tomorrow morning (I am def a morning runner) and doing W2R3. Depending on how it goes, I will decided whether to go to W3R1 on Saturday, or repeat W2R3. Feeling a bit apprehensive about the step up from running for 90 secs to running for 3 mins TBH....

McButtonwillow · 03/06/2015 12:36

Bram I have felt apprehensive about every step up but honestly 90secs to 3 mins was ok, give it a go, you can always slow the pace down if you need to Smile

monkeymayhem · 03/06/2015 12:41

Hello everyone! Can I join you all please? I have just completed W3 R3 and I am definitely feeling a bit addicted to it! I used to run a lot at school but until starting this hadn't done any proper exercise for about 18 years. I just want to get fit really and because I have a knee problem I had basically discounted running in favour of a cross trainer and DVDs. But I wanted to do something outside and thought if I had a proper schedule to follow then I can just see how much my knees can cope with. Luckily as long as I stay on flat ground everything is good so far and I love the feeling once a run is completed. Still can't imagine how on earth I will run for five minutes, let alone 30 minutes!

So far I found the second week trickiest and repeated a couple of runs. That was mainly because i spent so much time faffing around with earphones that kept falling out and stuff! I have a windows phone so i am doing the Total C25K which doesn't come with music or someone encouraging me as i pant my way around! I have given up on the headphones now and just have 'the voice' shouting out at me!

Next run will be Friday morning. Already looking forward to it but think it is 3 mins run, 5 mins run, 3 mins run and 5 mins run so does seem a bit daunting.

Iggi999 · 03/06/2015 13:08

Rumours I'd love to lose five stone (think how much easier it would be to run without that on me!) and I am now looking at my last run tomorrow. Found this week's 30 minutes easier than the first time you do 20, it's a strange thing. Now have to think of a plan to keep the motivation up..

Bramshott · 03/06/2015 14:06

Thanks McButton - I will just plod on, and trust that the lovely Laura knows what she's doing Grin!

ditavonteesed · 03/06/2015 15:38

I've only gone and done it, w8r2 I deided to go ona route I know is 5km and see how long it took even if I had to walk for a few minutes, did it in 37 mins, I am so chuffed.

fierypoppy · 03/06/2015 18:26

I did w3r1 yesterday and boy was it tough :) well I have got two more runs like that to build up my stamina :) maybe I´ll repeat the week if I´m not sure.

PenguinsAreAce · 03/06/2015 18:39

Well done everyone. I did w6r3 this morning and it was good (25 mins straight running, furthest so far). However, I'm a bit disappointed that all the week 7 runs are now identical with no interval training. I like it to be mixed up, so four identical runs in a row doesn't thrill me. I am just hoping weeks 8 and 9 are not v similar. I may Google...

nicknamenonsense · 03/06/2015 19:07

Just back in from w3r2. It was marginally easier than w3r1 and I managed an extra 2 mins run on the end again (though DH was pushing me to do 2.5 mins today!) I still can't possibly see how I will ever run for any reasonable length of time without stopping but I also know that I just have to take it one step at a time and follow the programme.

Feeling quite chuffed with myself and am also happy that I am setting a good example to the DC about exercise over the last 6 months or so as I have been doing some cycling and swimming too. Am almost considering a short triathlon although I definitely need to get the running cracked first!!!

AppleSnapple · 03/06/2015 19:33

WoohOoooooOo dita!! Go you, that's fantastic, what a great feeling!

Nicknamenonsense... Funny you say that I was thinking about a triathlon this morning (must be losing the plot!) have decided I'll do one before I'm 40. Luckily that gives me 4 years to train Grin

midnight1983 · 03/06/2015 19:33

That's encouraging, lb.

I've bought a knee support ad given myself an extra rest day as pain was twinning in my knee a bit too. Anyone got any tips how to run with a good technique? Fear I am just inept Shock

Really admire all o you who have moved onto solid runs. After 90 seconds on week 2 I thought I would die!

lbnblbnb · 03/06/2015 21:06

Good luck Midnight.
Fantastic Ditavonteesed - I want to be at that point!
Rest day for me, I went for a 1.5 mile walk. It was very beautiful, the clouds are particularly beautiful today (in Norfolk).
