Ooh forgot to add, previous times I've completed the app, I've done it on the treadmill at the gym...outside is going to be much harder isn't it...!?

Bakingtins · 05/08/2013 21:05

Congratulations to the graduates and welcome to the newbies!

scarecrow I'm finding wk6 tough too. Ran on Thursday then had w/end off at Camp Bestival, so did w6r3 today. Does that mean you have caught up with me not difficult ? They have roped off a section of the park and I have to stop to clamber over the ropes, which has scuppered me twice, part way into the 2nd 10 mins of R2 and about 15 mins into the 25 tonight. I walked for a minute then ran the last 9-10. I'm not going to be disheartened though, I could never have run 24 mins with a very short break a few weeks ago and I think I have 3 chances in wk 7 to crack it. It sounds like lots of people have struggled with wk 6.

DramaAlpaca · 05/08/2013 21:17

Congrats to Bakingnovice and amigababy on graduating. Flowers to both of you from me.

My news is that I ran W7R2 today, and managed it in a quicker time and with a faster sprint at the end than the previous two 25 minute runs. So I must be improving, right?

scarecrow and Bakingtins - I found W6 a real struggle, but am finding W7 easier.

Hello to all the new runners on the thread Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/08/2013 21:19

EeTraceyluv that's rubbish, I had a rubbish run in week 7 and it does really knock your confidence. Could it be a pace issue because you've had your routine/pattern/terrain? Make sure you go out positively for your next run and it will be a great one :)

Congratulations amigababy!!!!

Welcome iloveaglassofwine, I lost weight but was using mfp at the same time. Definitely more toned but I do run further than 5k for done of my runs :)

Are you sure you need to go back to the start Shitsinger? Where did you get to?

That's really lovely bakingnovice! I agree it makes me a much better person, I'm less affected by my hormones and much calmer/more relaxed generally. I love the time to myself and to have something to be proud of myself for :)

Get well soon nextphase!

I went on my first doggy run tonight with some of my club, was FANTASTIC! I was brave and let Peanut off and he ran with the pack brilliantly and kept comin back to check on us. We did just over 5 miles and he loved it, poured down so we were soaked and he went in the river twice. Two killer hills too! We ran with a lurcher, Doberman, border collie and something brown and white and very big with a half docked tail. Faster than my usual pace so good for me too :)

elliemummaroos · 05/08/2013 22:30

I feel like I've failed. Missed yesterday because I felt seriously sick and today I managed to come up with every excuse possible! Tomorrow would have been 3 rest days so bit scared and feel like I've let myself down!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/08/2013 22:42

Probably need to give yourself a day or so if you've been poorly elliemummaroos. Three days is fine, you'll get straight back on it :)

bottom of my feet a he, esp my left heel. I def land heel first and am not light but thought I led with right foot. Any advices?

Off out now before family gets up and Sun gets hot. Bliss if it works Smile Smile

scarecrow22 · 06/08/2013 06:52

bottom of my feet "ache". Apology

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 06/08/2013 07:14

Hope your foot held out, scarecrow. I sometimes find I have a few aches and pains at the beginning of a run, but they go after a few minutes.

But today I've wimped out. It's the first time I haven't made myself go. I had a terrible night up with both DC's all night and decided at 5am that I wasn't getting up at 6.30 for a run. I've got coffee in bed instead. DH will do his run tonight so I can't go till tomorrow morning now.

I've decided to do the 10K programme from Runkeeper. A bit scared!

scarecrow22 · 06/08/2013 07:38

TWENTY FIVE MINUTES???

Nobody warned me! Anyway for first time put chimp in the toy box, sat DD on top with the iPad, and as an insurance policy put DS next to her so in massively unlikely event she moved he would smile his utterly gorgeous grin at the sight if a big monkey and the chimp would not want to leave his side Grin

Thanks Judy. Really hope you recover today. I realise now the recovery days ate as important as the runs so you are still in training Smile

Family still asleep (first time dd slept past half siz at home in her life I think) I feel good that Laura told me I'm a runner now. Thank you all for getting me here

hairtwiddler · 06/08/2013 07:55

Well I last ran on Friday morning and it will have to be this evening when I go out. The weekend in Edinburgh was great but sleepless. This morning I've woken stiff and sore so doing some back stretches. It's so easy to get out of the habit isn't it? Someone kick me out of the door later tonight!

Bakingtins · 06/08/2013 08:03

well done scarecrow I like your toy box tactics, will try it next time!

elliemummaroos · 06/08/2013 10:25

w2r1 complete! YAY! I know I'm a complete newbie but can't wait to build it up to where you all are! well done everyone! Ellie xXx

watchingout · 06/08/2013 12:45

Just done a fun run on holiday. Which NO WAY would I have done last year. Wouldn't even have packed any trainers if I had some

Wimped out with the 2 mile option though as it was the day after my last run ie no rest day. Bit Blush at the amount of kids passing me at full pelt but stuck it out with Laura in my ears on the 5k+ podcast and came in at 18:50. So pleased with my pace but kinda wishing I had chosen 5k...

One benefit was the warmup session. Taken by a very fit army PT instructor Grin

watchingout · 06/08/2013 12:49

Congratulations Ellie ! Everyone is a newbie sometime. And you are so much further along than those on the couch Wink

EeTraceyluv · 06/08/2013 17:29

Just tried again and managed 18 mins running, so am fairly pleased - I'm sure I'll do 22 on Thurs now Grin

hairtwiddler · 06/08/2013 19:22

Welcome to newcomers. Great weather for running tonight in the North East. Met my neighbour as I was panting along. He's an ironman champion and gave me a smile and a wave. I was quite chuffed and didn't feel like a fraud. I managed 5k in 38mins which is still slooow but I had a lovely run.

hairtwiddler · 06/08/2013 19:23

p.s. well done Eetraceylove. Running is a funny old business for good days and bad days.

scarecrow22 · 06/08/2013 20:20

well done EeTracey, there is more honour in battling a bad patch than cruising around the park when it os easy. As Laura would say, it's the tough bits which make you fit and strong. Take care

scarecrow22 · 06/08/2013 20:22

watching do you have one of those Ts? I want one. When I graduate! Partly as I could do with a wicking T, partly to spread the word and I really think it's a fantastic plan. Though this thread made it soooo much more fun and motivating. Perhaps we need a threat/MN c25k grads T Grin

amigababy · 06/08/2013 20:45

well done eeTracey and hairtwiddler Keep on running!!

nextphase · 06/08/2013 20:54

scarecrow have you got a sports direct anywhere near you?

Still not been running since I graduated. Tho went out on a pirate hunt with the kids after tea. Managed 1 mile at 2 year old pace ;) And some kind sole had dropped 5p, so we even found pirate treasure!!!

Want to go out this week. Not sure if I should drop back to a 20?25? min route to get back into it, and check I'm actually fit again rather than desperate to get out of the house!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/08/2013 21:12

Just seen one of my mums (I'm a childminder) doing w2r1 of the c25k while I was out with the dog. She asked me about it some time ago, glad she's started :)
