Week 2 run 2 completedSmile was surprised how well it went!! Although I don't get chance to post much I find reading this thread really inspirational! ! Reading how well everyone is doing further on makes me think I might actually get there! Just wanted to say thanks for spurring me onGrin !!

nextphase · 11/06/2013 21:08

Mrs Bob, looks like we are at a similar stage - I've done w2r2 tonight (and then the warm up of week 3 to get home again!)

I didn't quite manage all the runs, and had to slow to a walk for a few seconds on one run, but otherwise OK. I've surprised myself, even tho I'm not actually managing them all at a run - makes me wonder how I'm going to run for 30 mins, when I can even manage 90s sometimes!

Pollydon · 12/06/2013 06:56

Well that's week 2 started, not too bad, but a bit soggy now , wish the sun would come back ! Where would be the best place to get a breathable top, Ive just been running in a tshirt, but it is too hot\heavy after the first 10 mins or so.

MsGee · 12/06/2013 07:06

Hi, can I join? Just done week 2, run 2. Am really enjoying it but the end goal seems impossible to be honest!

MsGee · 12/06/2013 07:07

pollydon I got some tops from m and m sports - I just bought whatever was on special and it was really cheap.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2013 07:09

Welcome DramaAlpaca and well done for starting again, injuries are horrible! Hopefully you won't get anymore or at least have the bug by the time you do and then be desperate to get back out!

Well done MrsBob, nextphase and Pollydon! I get mind in sports direct, cheap but good karrimor is what most people I know wear. So you need to slow your run a bit nextphase? As you move through the plan you'll realise that you will get to 30 mins Grin

Sorry just noticed dementedma on the thread.

Pollydon · 12/06/2013 07:12

Thanks Msgee, will have a look.

Pollydon · 12/06/2013 07:13

And thanks Cinnemon

BIWI · 12/06/2013 08:40

Yep, loads of running stuff in Sports Direct. It's a place I hate, but since I started this running lark I find myself strangely attracted to the place Blush

Morning all! Haven't managed to get on here for a while but am still running (and enjoying it too!!). Even found the Wk 5 Day 3-20 min run reasonably 'easy'!! And got up on Sunday morning after a few drinks on Saturday night, when I could actually just have gone back to sleep, and did Wk 6 Day 1!!

Should be running today but have been feeling quite tired and sore the last couple of days and am considering a tiny mid-programme break and going swimming instead for the rest of the week on my run days and then picking it back up again next week. Not sure if this is a good idea or not but think my body could do with it and really don't think I will struggle to start up again as I am really enjoying it and motivated this time. Actually think I might miss it and hopefully will come back feeling fresh.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well. Still really inspired by those who have finished C25K and are moving on. And to those just starting just keep plodding on, you will get there and it is not about speed at the moment!

scarecrow22 · 12/06/2013 11:01

hi, I'm thinking of starting this as way back into running after DS who is now 9wks.
before pregnant with DD (nearly 2y 6m) I ran 5k regularly and once a week ran 7-12k. after DD didn't run for too long (loss of habit and confidence plus time ) got back up to happy 5-8k though usually only once a.week, sometimes twice. I ran unti17 weeks with this pregnancy but thwn did almost no exercise. since CS been upping walking and doing core and pelvic class for a couple of weeks and will continue.

has anyone else done C25k after having run more before? I jogged a little with buggy to buggy fit class yesterday and wonder if I will get frustrated with want ing to run more sooner and if so if you can cheat little, or would that be silly and counter productive? my weak point is knees but they usually if not always better when run regularly.

Look forward to joining you all and drawing inspiration. I'm.slowly reading back during interminable night windings...

DramaAlpaca · 12/06/2013 12:33

Hello again all.

Thought I might be a bit stiff & sore after starting C25K again yesterday, but pleased to report that I'm fine so I didn't overdo it. I made sure to do lots of stretches afterwards.

Will let you know how I get on after 2nd run tomorrow.

pennygallops · 12/06/2013 19:30

dramaalpaca - that's the beauty of C25K - it slowly increases your fitness and I found I was never stiff or achy.

Welcome scarecrow - if you've been that fit before, I'm sure you'll pick it up again quite quickly. You could start further into the program.

Well done on your 20 mins continuous running gingerpinz.

How is everybody else's running going?

I am frustrated tonight! I went out gain with my DS to do 4k, as I'm trying to build up fitness again after my slight injury. Again, I'm pain free but I found it very difficult to run at any sort of speed. I'm average about 7mins for 1k! I was easily doing under 6 mins only a few weeks ago. Going to try 5k on Friday and a tiny bit of interval training on Sunday.

dementedma · 12/06/2013 20:10

Having a break tonight but plan to be out tomorrow. Running at around 9mins per km, so need to get faster to do sub 40 minute 5k

cinnamongreyhound · 12/06/2013 21:00

Welcome scarecrow22!

Well done gingerpinz and DramaAlpaca!

I was the same pennygallops, drove me mad!! I'm getting there now and you had less time off than me. Training tonight especially for you- 1min at 400m pace, 4 min recovery x2, 2 min at 800m pace, 3 min recovery x2, 3 min 5k pace, 2 min recovery x2, 4 min at 10k pace, 1 min recovery x2.

pennygallops · 12/06/2013 21:45

Thank you cinnamon. I think I might try something like that on Sunday. I know I'll get there, I've just got to be patient. It was quite humid tonight and I was already feeling quite before I went out. But at least I'm able to run.

UmBongo · 12/06/2013 22:07

My speed isn't picking up much if any. I did another 30 minuter tonight as I don't want to hurt myself, I thought I would do another 5k on friday and see if I can get anywhere near the last time! (my only other 5k time!)

Not sure if I can do the sprinty thingy though, but I may look into the 5k+ podcast that someone mentioned. Or I may do what you are doing dementedma and go back to the beginning, but run/jog instead of jog/walk. I will have to do something as my weight loss is stalling as is my enthusiasm!

DramaAlpaca · 13/06/2013 11:33

Well, W1R2 just done. Managed fine, but I'm more tired afterwards than I was on Tuesday. Probably because I had quite a late night, then had to get up early to drop DS3 off for an exam. Normal routine will be resumed next week when I go back to work. I'll have to start running in the evenings then as I'm not really a morning person.

Might go for a little nap now while watching the tennis on TV... then catch up on housework later Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 13/06/2013 12:51

Well done DramaAlpaca, sounds like a plan I often think about having a nap and then feel too guilty and don't!

Sorry you feel like that UmBongo! I had a big wobble when I finished the c25k and at one point I was happy if I could manage 15 mins. Try just speeding up a bit if you're feeling ok and push yourself a little and hopefully your over all your speed with improve. Try to just enjoy running for rubbings sake, that's what helped me. No target just running because you enjoy the run. I can't really advise on weightless because mine was a very steady loss which didn't really stall. Drink lots and make sure you have some treats as well as being good. Whatever you're doing has to be sustainable.

Anyone else doing a baby C25K?

I have managed week one with 4 ( nearly, stopped a bit early) 1min runs instead of 8. I just can't do more without fearing damage. I have my new trainers ( lovely they are).

Today my left leg and the rest f me feels fine after going out and a hot bath, but my right leg feels very dodgy (out side of the hip). I am thinking about how i run and it can't be hat assymetric surely?

Theas18 · 13/06/2013 12:57

Can't see me ever gettig to 5K! doing 8x1 min runs as per week 1 seems a lot at the moment

yetanotherworry · 13/06/2013 13:50

Theas, I am now on week 7 having completed a 25 min run last week. When I started the program (a bit longer than 7 weeks ago) I was panicing about the fact that I had signed up for Race for Life and I could just about finish the 60 sec runs. Keep with the program, it works.

I would try some core exercises/gluteal muscle exercises for your hip. I'm not quite sure which bit is bothering you but I have problems with my sacro-illiac joint and I find that if I do some pilates, it really helps the pain. Also try and start off on your other foot for a while. My physio pointed out to me that because I find the one side painful, I try not to use it, which actually makes the muscles weaker and the pain gets worse.

scarecrow22 · 13/06/2013 14:03

Theas do you mean with a baby? if so, I am. plan do w1r1 tomorrow with 9wk old in buggy and 2yo er running around me in park. Worth a try ;)

how old is/are yours?
