I can't believe I managed to do it! I am very unfit and about 3 stone overweight. But I did it Grin

Just wanted to share with someone as I'm very proud of myself at the moment Blush

I think the two day rest is really important in letting the muscle fibres heal and grow stronger properly. I have mine on sat&sun too, so that I start a week's runs on a Mon and am nice and fresh for each step up.

wibblyjelly · 24/04/2013 13:32

OK, I'll start week 2 tomorrow then. I was getting a bit stressed about trying to fit it in, so that's a bit of a relief

eminemmerdale · 24/04/2013 15:26

Yes, I will be ahving two days now - I actually have very sore legs - got progressively worse over the day Grin :(

Theyoniwayisnorthwards · 25/04/2013 11:16

Skipped a run last night, just could not get it together a by the time toddler was asleep at nine(!) baby had been sleeping for two hours and could have woken up wanting to be fed. Will run tonight!

Has anybody run with a jogging stroller? My youngest is 5 months 1 week, is that too young? He is not sitting up by himself yet.

HunterWellies · 25/04/2013 13:47

Did my last interval run this morning. Not sure whether I'm pleased about that or not Confused The last two runs have felt quite hard so I'll just see how it goes from here, hopefully block runs will seems easier.

Yoni I'm no help except to say I've thought about taking ds2 (6 months) out with me but since my baby jogger pushchair is not recommended for jogging with (?!?) I haven't done anything about it yet :o

wibblyjelly · 25/04/2013 16:57

Bah :-( I'm at the start of a pounding headache. Do I still go for a run tonight, or will it make it worse? If so, can I get away with just going for a 30 min walk? I've just had a 2 day rest, and don't want to ruin what I've done so far

EauRouge · 25/04/2013 17:04

You won't ruin it if you take more than two rest days. I'd wait and see how you feel later. Have you drunk plenty of water?

HunterWellies · 25/04/2013 17:06

Can you drink some water, take a couple of paracetamol and wait half an hour or so, see how you feel? If its a cold starting I wouldn't run, I think the advice is not to.

wibblyjelly · 25/04/2013 17:26

I'm just going to down a pint of water, and see how I go. I really need to do it when dh gets home in about half an hour, so hopefully I will feel better by then

FoundAChopinLizt · 25/04/2013 17:55

Hope your headache goes away soon, wibbly.

MadameCoco · 25/04/2013 18:00

Delighted to see this thread. I have recently started C25K - am on W2 and should be doing R3 today. Am waiting for DH to come home but am not feeling particularly motivated right now because the weather is rubbish (cold & damp) and I have already cycled to work and back today so am a little tired. Can someone give me a kick up the arse?

eminemmerdale · 25/04/2013 18:11

BOOT there you go Grin

newbeliever · 25/04/2013 18:36

Another BOOT ... I need one too, but waiting for dh to get home so I can go and do w6r1. Hope you are ok Wibbly.

wibblyjelly · 25/04/2013 19:44

I didn't go, I'm currently in bed Sad . Hoping I'll get out tomorrow instead

FoundAChopinLizt · 25/04/2013 21:51

Wibbly, hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow.

I went to running class tonight, was very gentle but fun. I've been running a lot faster than we did at class. We learnt about stretching which was excellent and it was sociable. The schedule we're supposed to follow is much easier than C25K, but starts to catch up around week 4, so I'm going to carry on with C25K until they overlap. Either way I'm doing 5k race at the end of June.

Theyoniwayisnorthwards · 25/04/2013 22:08

Just did W2R2. Had to force myself out the door but again worth it. Ate too late before running though and got a stitch. Wibbly you did the right thing if you're unwell I think, best thing you can do is rest.

newbeliever · 25/04/2013 22:34

Did w6r1, not too bad.

Hunter - my theory with finding the 3 runs harder is that we set off quicker in the knowledge that we have a rest coming up soon with the walk section. I did that this evening during the first run, I was so keen to get going I suddenly realised how fast I was going and thought there was no way I could keep it up. Low and behold I had to slow it right down and the last 5 mins were much harder. It was strange running in the dark, I didnt enjoy it as much although the moon looked HUGE and v impressive.

Wibbly - you definitely did the right thing ... I had a migraine a few weeks back which lasted a couple of days and I ended up having a 4 day break - it was ok getting back into it.

NoBusinessLikeSnowBusiness · 25/04/2013 23:10

Ooh, lots and lots of new people. Hello everyone. I haven't posted for a little while, but my runs have been ticking over and I'm now waiting to do wk8r2. Unfortunately dp went away yesterday until next Tuesday so unless I can park the kids with a friend for 40 minutes I won't be doing anything until he gets back. I had to have a five-day gap last week because my knee was sore so I needed to rest it as I already have an underlying issue with it. Now here's a mark of how much this programme has changed me - I took my gear away with me on a weekend trip, and was out running around the central streets of Manchester at 7.30am on Sunday morning...... I actually think I was starting to get twitchy without doing it!

Good luck to all those at the starting end of it. I can't believe I've only got five runs left to go (knee permitting). It is nothing short of a miracle in my mind.

sparkle12mar08 · 26/04/2013 07:32

Well I knew I should have gone yesterday! Looking out the window this morning and it's overcast and raining! I don't have any decent gear to run in bar trainers, I have a lightweight Berghaus waterproof which I could wear a vest top under - I ran in it the very first time I went and it was okay but hot and very noisy/rustley. But I have to go so I'll make do. Has anybody on c25k invested in running clothing yet? SportsDirect seem tohave some amazing deals on Karrimor in particular, but I don't know the first thing about what to look for.

eminemmerdale · 26/04/2013 08:20

Have wk1 d3 scheduled today with three mumsnet pals Wink but my knees are really sore still. I will go, but do you think this would be safe? They hurt at the side really. Feel fine apart from that!

HalleLouja · 26/04/2013 14:36

Can I join please?

I finished the programme last year but then it got cold and I got lazy.

Well today I survived week 5 day 1 and enjoyed it too! I am slightly mental.

eminemmerdale · 26/04/2013 15:44

I would like to cry :( did the session today but my knees are soooo painful. What can i do? Is it The End??

FoundAChopinLizt · 26/04/2013 15:54

Emin
Poor you, how frustrating. What are your shoes like? Have you had previous knee trouble?

eminemmerdale · 26/04/2013 15:59

I have puma trainers - admittedly they are a bit old, but have never been used for running in befpre. I did have osgood schlatter disease wh i as aout 12, but neve any problem since. Just picked dd up from school and I looked about 70 hoblbing around the playground!

FoundAChopinLizt · 26/04/2013 16:12

Don't you think you better get seen by the GP?are you using ibuleve or similar already?
