Does anyone want to join me. Its my third attempt started today.

The first time I got pregnant mid way through. Second time was the start of the year and it was too snowy and cold and I was ill.

So psyched myself up again.

I need some company.

Well done Auntie. I just did week 2 day 2. Its just a little bit addictive. Hopefully I will finish this time. I wish I started pre kids then I wouldn't struggle to fit it all in.

TiredEmma you have inspired me! It's really great to hear that you found running for 1 minute to be a struggle at the beginning - has reassured me that this will get easier!
I am going out for a run tonight when my husband gets home, but am dreading it as it is REALLY windy out there today!

AstronomyDomine · 30/08/2012 07:53

I've just finished week 5, just the thought of the 20 minute run scared me a bit but it was ok. 5 weeks ago the 1-minute runs nearly finished me off!!
W6R1 today then the last session with walking intervals on Saturday. I'm amazed but secretly very pleased with myself Grin

HalleLouja · 30/08/2012 10:00

Well done you. Astronomy. I need to go out tonight. Was shattered last night so didn't make it out. Will do it tonight though.

I'm planning to start this but I won't be able to do Sundays just Tuesday and Thursday as they are my free days. Will this impact on me much? Obviously it will take longer but will it just be too long between each thursday and the next Tuesday?

LaurieFairyCake · 31/08/2012 08:21

I've had 5 days of dd at home and dh at work so haven't got out for my run - hopefully going tomorrow.

Fantastic to see you all doing do well - that was a really inspiring post Tired, makes me want to carry on Smile

HalleLouja · 31/08/2012 09:10

Week 2 done and dusted. It felt good. Last run I was hanging on as I nearly died but apart from that. It went ok.

Roll on week 3. She says before looking at it.

Well done Halle Smile I've just been for another run and I now feel comfortable enough with the week one runs to go onto week 2 runs - so I will be starting them Tuesday.

It was a lovely morning for a run today and I really felt it in the backs of my legs as I gardened for 6 hours Thursday - generally starting to feel fitter.

HalleLouja · 01/09/2012 19:56

Well done Laurie. I never thought I would like running but it does start to happen.

Week 3 first run down. The second 3 minute run was hard but its now done. It wa really really hard in fact.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2012 14:02

That's fantastic - can't imagine running for a whole 3 minutes yet. I get really euphoric when I manage to get to the end of time each time - the second he says 'slow down and walk' I'm almost punching the air with glee.

I do love it already, just have to be able to make room for it in the week - this week has been tough as dh is back at work and dd is still not back at school - I don't want to take her or my fat ass will end up on facebook as she jogs behind me Grin

This week she goes back to activities so my personal trainer (dh) will be coming home from work to go out with me.

HalleLouja · 02/09/2012 20:12

Laurie 3 minutes was tough but hopefully it will get easier over the week.

I seem to remember running for longer chunks was almost easier than all the stopping and starting. As you get into the flow. But that was with some practice. I had to repeat some weeks first time round as I got a cold / missed weeks.

Argh, am stalled at wk3r3; a greby throat and a 5th birthday party means I haven't run since Wednesday and am unlikely to get back out until Tuesday at the earliest. Bah.

HalleLouja · 03/09/2012 08:34

Auntie hopefully I am going out tomorrow. If I can psych myself up. Sometimes life just gets in the way. That is allowed.

I am just about to start week 4 - slightly worried that I will struggle to run for so long, but just keep reminding myself that I found 60 seconds hard a few weeks ago and can do that easily now!

Have registered to run a 5k in October (eeek, next month!) Looking forward to it, but feel slightly sick at the same time!

piprabbit · 03/09/2012 21:58

Hello - do you mind if I join the thread, please? You all sound very focused and impressive.

I started using the NHS Choices C25K podcasts 3 weeks ago. I did week 1, then had a week off (DH was away and I couldn't run with the DCs in tow), repeated week 1 and I've now just finished week 2.

I did a sneaky listen to the first couple of minutes of week 3 and am terrified at the idea of running for 3 minutes. I'm meant to be going out tomorrow, but have a bit of a cold which makes my breathing harder - maybe I'll do another week 2 run to "consolidate" - or is that just being cowardly?

HalleLouja · 03/09/2012 22:09

iPip welcome. I would do week 3. It was hard but do-able. She says hoping second time will be much easier.....

OP posts:
piprabbit · 03/09/2012 22:14

Okay - I'll give it a try.

Thanks - I'll let you know how it went assuming I make it home

LaurieFairyCake · 03/09/2012 22:25

I have just done my first run of week 2 - after doing a couple of weeks at week 1 and I feel amazing! It was hard but doable, which I never thought I'd say.

I'd planned to go tomorrow night but dd's dance class doesn't start til next week so I seized an opportunity to go earlier, on my own for the first time - I'm so happy I did it on my own, now I know I can do it without needing someone else to encourage me.

Roll on the next run Smile

HalleLouja · 03/09/2012 22:26

Well done Laurie. Pours a glass of Wine.

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 03/09/2012 22:31

Thanks, feel totally euphoric -it's like drugs mahhhhhhn Grin

HalleLouja · 03/09/2012 22:32

It is addictive. Am going out tomorrow if we are back in time from paralympics. Otherwise it will be Weds. But its great that its so cheap to do once you have bought the basics. And good for the environment as no driving to the gym etc.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 04/09/2012 08:00

Congratulations on getting to week 2 Laurie - it does feel a bit addicitve doesn't it?

I took your advice HalleLouja and did week 3 today.... and it really wasn't too bad. There was still a tiny little bit left in the tank by the end. So chuffed. Thanks.

Movingforward123 · 05/09/2012 18:13

I started couch to 5 k before the summer, but stopped during the holidays Sad I did week 1 easily enough but 1st run of week 2 was hard!

I really need to get in shape, I am size 12 and over 10 stone and I'm only 5.2!

Will this help me loose belly and get in shape? Or would I be better doing aerobics or something else?

I will finally be able to exercise 3 times per week due to job changing, so I can commit to the days, but really want results to keep me motivated Wink
