Well done butterfly it's a fabulous feeling isn't it? .... Sounds like you might be getting addicted already Grin.!

kunahero · 16/10/2011 06:58

Parkrun is such a brilliant organisation.

I started in april and have now done 18 so they are addictive. make sure you volunteer as well as this can be just as much fun and a good way to make new pals.

32.34 is not at all bad, trouble is you will now get addicted on beating it each week and it get frustrating when you have a bad run and miss out by 5 seconds like I have for the last two weeks.

Keep it up.

butterflyexperience · 16/10/2011 10:22

Thanks Smile
I'm already looking forward to next weeks run and beating my time.

Thanks for tip on volunteering thinking will enjoy that too

Thats a great time for first time. Glad you enjoyed it. Love parkrun

mollycuddles · 16/10/2011 19:45

Yeh! Parkrun is fab! My best is 32.09 and I've done 8 to get down to that. My first was about 37. I'm hoping to do sub 30 by the end of the year. I've joined a running club today because I've made friends with some lovely parkrunners and they've invited me along. Haven't volunteered yet but will do.

butterflyexperience · 16/10/2011 20:20

Think it was yourself who recommended Parkrun to me :)
Its fab!
Good for you for joining a club! Are they all super runners? Not sure if I'm brave enough to join a club!

mollycuddles · 16/10/2011 21:45

They're all more experienced than me but I kept up and even walked a bit because the girl I was running with was struggling more than me. She hadn't been for a while though but has done marathons in the past!!! I think it helped because we were running off road somewhere slightly hilly which I do most weeks because I prefer it and they generally road run so I look better off road than I really am. Imagine I'll die on Wednesday when we are doing intervals and circuits but I need to push it to get faster. They're really friendly and inclusive and have been trying to get me to join for weeks. There are a couple of other clubs around where it's all way too serious and cliquey. Hope there's a nice club near you too!

butterflyexperience · 17/10/2011 10:17

Your club sounds great. And a fab way to get motivated into pushing your running further.
And if your good at hilly running I salute you because Im hopeless!
I shall look into clubs and report back :)

Butterfly,

how did you do today?

butterflyexperience · 23/10/2011 00:58

Hi kunahero thanks for remembering me Smile
I really struggled today, legs felt they were made if jelly.
So time today was 33 mins, bit annoyed I didn't beat last week.

How are you? Did you get your park run in today?

OP posts:
kunahero · 23/10/2011 19:15

i did, i get tetchy if i miss one!

22.05 yesterday which annoyed me as my pb is 22.04 and the last two runs i did 22.09 in both!

Dw knocked another 42 secs of her pb down to 28.06 but she suffered like you with legs that didnt want to work.

I put my run down to a new shirt! A new long sleeved man city shirt and then they win 6-1 today. cant get much better.

well done. You did it and you wernt last.
Next week will be better.

butterflyexperience · 27/10/2011 15:55

Kunahero your times are amazing!
One day I too shall sub 25 mins, it's a goal of mine Grin

And Congrats on your team winning Smile

Butterfly,
How did you do today?
I was crap! 22.15 but finished 29th (out of 197) and 4th in my age group. So not too bad

butterflyexperience · 02/11/2011 09:13

Did better!
31:47mins with shin splits.
So am now taking a week or so off to recover.

And 22mins is fab! Not crap at all, well done you! Smile

Butterfly,
How did you do today?
I didnt do parkrun today (dd watching) but we went to watch DW run instead, we take it in turns when MIL cant supervise dd.
Dw has only done 4 parkruns but has done 4 pb's and today knocked over 80 seconds off pb. I'm both impressed and jealous.
I have decided that the reason I cant beat my pb is the excess blubber I am ligging around so I am on intense sensible eating and increased exercise program and have lost 5lb in first 6 days!. Want to lose 15lb by xmas. Then put 5 back on Grin.

butterflyexperience · 08/11/2011 16:23

Hi kunahero

I didn't run either volunteered instead and loved it :) chatted to runners and did the all important job of registering runners with the scan thing -impressive gadget!
Well done you for losing so much weight in short time.
I need to lose a stone too, shall we together?
And whats your diet consist of?
I need to sort mine out too Blush

Losing weight is easy!!!
All I had to do is realise that I alone am responsible for what goes in my mouth.
If you burn up more calories than you eat then it is medically impossible to lose weight.

remember that almost everything that goes in your mouth has calories. Alcohol is full of cals as is milky tea/coffee fizzy drinks and fruit juice.

All I did was cut out bread, fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolate mon-fri. Cut my breakfast from 4 to 2 weetabix then eat just fruit (bananas, grapes, pineapple in unlimited amounts) and drink water only. Then usual evening meal. cut out snacks in eve.
Weekends anything goes.... almost.
I run 6-10k sunday, tuesday and thursday eve, row for 20 mins monday, wednesday and friday and do park run every saturday if possble.

It just tkes lots of will power. once you get the first few pounds off it gets easier as you can see some results.

My target weight is 11st 12lb by xmas and 11st 0lb eventually.

I should point out that I am a vegan which is cheating a bit but it does make it much easier.
Good luck. you can do it

kunahero · 12/11/2011 14:44

Butterflyexperience How did your parkrun go today?

I managed to beat my pb for the first time in ages and got under 22 mins. 21.54.

Lost 1 lb this week so not as good as last week.

How is your battle going?

kunahero · 22/11/2011 06:33

butterfly did you do parkrun this weekend? how did you do and hows the weightloss going?

I've got another 3lb off and dropped my parkrun time down to 21.43. I worked it out that for every 1lb i lose I run 3 seconds faster so I need to lose anothe 8 stone and Olympics here I come Grin.

Hope everything is going well for you.

butterflyexperience · 22/11/2011 17:26

Hi kunohero

You are doing fab! Well done for losing the weight, you must be working very hard to lose so much and improve your times.

I'm still recovering from injury ran locally at weekend and still got pain in shin so will try again at weekend.
Have stayed away from this thread a also feeling guilty as am eating comfort food like French bread and have put in weight Blush
Need to kick start my self into better health routine, I was doing so well a few months ago and things have slowly slid...

But you are doing fantastic and am most impressed with you results Smile

OP posts:
kunahero · 23/11/2011 06:48

Butterflyexperience What have you injured? Poor you Thanks it is shit wanting to go and exercise when you cant. Last summer I stepped off the kerb to cross the street and ripped a muscle in my back and was immobile for 3 weeks! So easy to do it. Luckily this year has been injury free (touches every bit of wood within reach)
Personally I am enjoying all of it so much it doesnt seem like hard work apart from having to make an extra hole in my belt to keep my now loose trousers up!! I'm sure the rowing has helped me as much as the weight loss in improving my parkrun times. Having to miss the next two due to day out to York and having to be dad to dd. (dw and I have to alternate runs til 3 year old is able to join in)
Hope you are back to full fitness soon.

butterflyexperience · 23/11/2011 08:33

Just shin splints, think due to non running shoes which I now have and love Smile

And i am very Envy of your having to make a new hole on your belt! Well done again!
I have a dd1 who I'd 3 too, is yours as crazy as mine??
Hurting your back like that sounds agony, reminds me to take more care whilst running.

Do you think rowing is really helping losing weight then?

OP posts:
butterflyexperience · 23/11/2011 08:35

And have a lovely time in York with your family Smile
Please report back and if it is worth the trip we may visit too

OP posts:
kunahero · 23/11/2011 21:22

Yes rowing is helping with weight loss I'm sure. It is also helping with my stamina and running.
My dd is nuts! some days she is calm and wonderful, today she was a howling unconsolable toddler and nothing could help.
I also have ds (19) and dd2 (15) exdw)
Bad day today re weight, gave into chips for lunch Blush
Shin Splints are horrible. Weirdly i found the best cure was better running shoes which you already have and just run through the pain and it all got better.
Let you know on Sat eve how york was. Looking forward to awesome vegan restaurant.

butterflyexperience · 28/11/2011 13:11

How was York kuno?
And I'll allow you the chips this once Wink
