Change doesn't just happen, it's made...

If you think leaving the EU was a bad idea, what are you doing about it?

To be fair, the brexiteer scaremongering of an European Army doesn't sound that bad at the moment.

Hard agree!

I said none of that. The fact that you are misrepresenting my comments shows me that you are a bad faith actor. I don't have much else to say to you...

You said my arguments don’t stand up to a moments thought.

Did you not?

You won’t say why though.

Or have you?

You’ve offered nothing except insinuations that those who disagree with you must be bad-faith or stupid.

Or is that not what you meant by bot, pigeon, bad-faith actor?

I really don’t understand people who spend time on an online discussion board but run from actual discussion.

MaybeNotBob · 14/04/2026 21:47

Good night AI bot...

You're not as bad as EEmigrant, but if you lay your posts out as if they were written by TwatGPT then I'll treat them as such...

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 14/04/2026 22:27

What am I doing about it? Moaning periodically mostly. There's not a lot you can do. When there's an opportunity to restore some of what we had, then I'll likely support it.

likelysuspect · 14/04/2026 22:31

I would rejoin, I was a remainer, but Im not happy that we would need to take the Euro as I dont think hving one interest rate and one central bank is good for any country and now we would bestuck with that

Would we still have the veto, weve probably lost that too

Seems unusually sensitive. There are plenty of reasonable arguments for rejoining the EU. Wouldn’t you want to try making even one of them?

Spidey66 · 14/04/2026 22:39

Nothing, bar getting an Irish passport. Thanks Mum and Dad xxxx

We wouldn't necessarily. That, yet again, is Fartage and co's misinformation. Repeatedly spread on these kind of threads by people claiming to have voted remain...

Oh is that right!!!

What an idiot.

MaybeNotBob · 14/04/2026 23:46

People bots are trying to make out that there are so many downsides to rejoining, when, in fact, it is patently the best thing for the country by a country mile.

It's not like good old David Davis's "Downside Dossier" when he insisted that there were going to be no downsides, only upsides.

This is how it's going so far...

That ship has sailed. UK needs to focus on investing in growth of, and investment in, business and industry which seems to be a low priority. Productivity also needs to improve. Growing the Welfare State whilst throwing good money after bad at the NHS is not going to cut it. Currently, it feels as if it's a race to the bottom.

MaybeNotBob · 15/04/2026 00:37

This is, again, nonsense propagated by the Fartage wing of idiotism.

Growth will only happen after rejoining. And anyone telling you otherwise is a Regormist bot.

Mate, get some better material.

You are the David Davis of this thread.

Natsku · 15/04/2026 05:38

I voted remain and I really would like Britain to rejoin the EU even though it won't be as good a deal, but I no longer live in the UK so don't feel its my place to do anything - any potential negative impacts of rejoining won't affect me (but I'll just enjoy the positive impacts like being able to order things from the UK, send and receive parcels without the hassle of customs and easier travel to visit family)

Even the "we send the EU £350m/week" line was mathematically untrue.

The rebate was 'applied at source' (deducted before any money was transferred), so we never actually sent £350m/week...

Boris Johnson was taken to court about the £350 million to the EU, but the case was dismissed.

Personally, I find that money is money is money...

It's what you can buy with you bank balance that's important, not what it's called!

And I don't find the idea of Schengen such a controversial topic either, but that's just my opinion.

Well, no, having your own currency is far more than what it's called. It enables a country to control exchange rates which is crucial for controlling international trade. This is why countries like Greece and Spain suffer, vs Germany/France because the EUR is fixed at a rate that favours the more powerful countries.

Dear oh dear. Please keep this to an informed debate rather than insult slinging. MN should be above Reddit, surely.

Well said. The Maybe poster seldom answers direct questions and backs them up with evidence and measured data.

Their use of;

TwatGPT
Fartage
Regormists

etc

adds nothing to the discussion.

However, I am interested to see the calculations, backed up with evidence and measured data, that demonstrates the cost of rejoining will be recovered in a year.

MaybeNotBob · 15/04/2026 10:54

EEmigrant accusing other people of not answering questions?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Irony overload...

EspanaPorfavor · 15/04/2026 11:04

I moved to Europe. I’d love the UK to rejoin. It has caused all sorts of little personal complications regarding travel/post.

Living in Schengen and having the Euro has been great for me! Flying from Spain to Italy is just so seamless (no passports even) and my variable mortgage is protected quite well by being tied to Euribor interest rates rather than the more variable national one.

All I can really do about it is get another nationality for my dc so they can go to uni for eu prices in the eu and still study in English (can’t afford to send them to study in England now!)
