I'm not feeling guilty and I'm not expecting any unicorns to appear.
So which option do you prefer

  • no deal grind country into ground
  • deal with massive compromises by the UK
as from here on in there is little else

The oh fuck rucksack needs re stocking actually.

Going over the brexit stash tomorrow.

Ar times I still can't believe what has happened to my country.

LouiseCollins28 · 30/08/2020 18:35

I'd prefer a deal to no deal listening consistently said that. I want a deal that works in our interests and recognizes our new independent status.

If I were the negotiators and I had to give something up, I'd probably give up the fish. Continued judicial oversight from the ECJ is an absolute no.

Cake and eat it
Rainbow unicorns

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
You really think that fish matter ?

FFS
its about STANDARDS
Either the UK agrees to trade with the EU and the USA and China according to the standards demanded by the more powerful party
or it does not trade at all
which is a bit of a bugger for a net importer

has it taken you 1529 days to still not work that out ?

yoikes · 30/08/2020 18:44

Leavers just aren't very bright, are they?

Sigh.

You're wasting your breath LQ

dominic cummings The Govt are actively pursuing no deal so that's tough shit for you, louise

Are you angry about that? Do you care? Was leaving so important to you that you are happy it could take 50 years to see any benefit? (I'm quoting JRM there btw)

LouiseCollins28 · 30/08/2020 18:47

So we just accept whatever the EU says? Why bother negotiating then? Why did we not just sign a deal agreeing to whatever the EU stipulated back in February say.

We have total alignment on standards currently.

LouiseCollins28 · 30/08/2020 18:49

In a word Yoikes, yes. I am entirely comfortable with not seeing a benefit in 50 years, which will likely encompass the whole of the remainder of my life.

yoikes · 30/08/2020 18:50

For those watching with increasing horror the situation in the US atm and wondering how a Western democracy implodes -

How do you think leavers and their supporters (EDL etc) will react when the TV and radio ads start telling people to stockpile foods and medicines?? (The telegraph have already done this to be fair!)

And what happens when they can't do that?? (Remember back in March???)

When we get power cuts? Water rationing?

^ all things the Govt have said could happen BTW before I'm accused of scaremongering.

Cos I don't know about you, but I think they will be pissed and I think the architects of leave should be concerned.

Sadly, it'll be remainers who get the brunt of the blame...because international treaties can be ratified in days if you just beleave hard enough!!!

yoikes · 30/08/2020 18:51

Wow.

Well. There it is.

LouiseCollins28 · 30/08/2020 18:52

Not that I think that prediction is true, you might understand, but if it were proved to be so, yes entirely comfortable with that.

ListeningQuietly · 30/08/2020 18:57

Good to know that Brexit was all about making life worse

yoikes · 30/08/2020 19:01

louise

I paraphrase Neil Kinnock:

Don't get old, don't get ill.

Then you'll be fine.

LQ when you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything...

Two countries united by slow 5G

Huawei that work out for you ?

I agree Yoikes, I doubt they will either. You asked me though, and that's my view.

BigChocFrenzy · 30/08/2020 19:39

USDA: Avian leukosis now a "trimmable condition"

Any US FTA will require allowing in US food - the joys of no longer being bound by EU food regulations
Of course allowing the consumption of diseased poultry can't cause any problems Hmm

https://www.poultryworld.net/Health/Articles/2020/8/USDA-Avian-leukosis-now-a-trimmable-condition-627131E/

In the future, poultry carcasses affected with one or more of the several forms of avian leukosis complex will no longer be condemned.

Following a petition by the National Chicken Council,
the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service will now handle avian leukosis as a “trimmable condition”

BigChocFrenzy · 30/08/2020 19:40

The benefits to British consumers of cheap food from around the world ?
More money in their pockets because diseased meat is cheaper

Copperas · 30/08/2020 19:55

Just looked up avian leukosis and wish I hadn’t. Cancerous chicken, anyone?

ListeningQuietly · 30/08/2020 20:01

A friend who moved from the UK to California for work became vegan and has brought her kids up vegetarian as she does not trust the meat in the stores.

My butcher has switched to buying whole carcasses direct from farms as such purchases will stay exempt from a US deal

I am lucky to be able to afford to shop there

yoikes · 30/08/2020 20:03

I'll be going veggie

yoikes · 30/08/2020 20:05

On a happier note, I was just listening to the radio and a song came on that rhymed "summer and fall" with "taj mahal" 😀

This has made me very happy for some reason 😊

pointythings · 30/08/2020 20:07

Leavers are unbelievable. Willing to flush the futures of two generations down the toilet for the sake of their wrongheaded ideology.

Jason118 · 30/08/2020 20:17

But for Louise and other leavers it's now ok to agree that things will be worse, because they'll still 'feel' better. Wasn't it always about the feelz?

mathanxiety · 30/08/2020 20:34

I want a deal that works in our interests and recognizes our new independent status.

Ay, there's the rub..
