We are seeking an extension. Apparently. No prizes for guessing why.

There is no news but COVID news. And that's all there will be for a long time.

Enjoy your stockpile and your sunny uplands it brought.

Keep safe.

It's been on C4 Big Choc. Care homes. Too ill and too scared is right :(

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 19:58

I am so sorry, Yoikes Sad 💐
This is so desperately sad for you & your family
Probably your aunt isn't aware of what is happening, with the morphine etc

yoikes · 23/03/2020 20:00

Christ, I hope so :(

yoikes · 23/03/2020 20:01

Our cousins are feeling better which is good news...
They think they picked it up in Paris about 3 weeks ago

Grinchlywords · 23/03/2020 20:05

AgainThanksThanksThanksYoikes.
That is good news about your cousins.

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 20:37

Uk lockdown.

Address to the nation was clear, concise and to the point

Good address. Can't argue with it.

Yep. Just several weeks too late.

ListeningQuietly · 23/03/2020 20:40

Am pleased.
It will make zilch difference to my family
but will save lives

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 20:41

Local veg box supplier has said they are now maxed out and won't take any new customers.

This is where I am thankful we have been with them for six years and they personally know us.

At last

prettybird · 23/03/2020 20:43

Ds is still up in Aberdeen Sad - now on his own as his flat mate left to go home to his parents earlier this evening.

titchy · 23/03/2020 20:43

Gulp. Do I jump in the car and go get dc from uni now or can this wait till tomorrow? Confused

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 20:49

^It will make zilch difference to my family
but will save lives^

Will make no difference to my household.

However it does mean my in laws can no longer send my nieces to us if they wanted for childcare reasons.

prettybird my DS is also still at uni (400 miles away from us) but he does have a flat mate with him. Big group project due in a couple of weeks so will be working on it from home, but project members now all dispersed so no idea how that works. It’s his BEng year too. Sent him an exciting care package of vitamins, paracetamol and chocolate today.

RedToothBrush · 23/03/2020 20:53

Unless you are going to go now, this minute it's now too late. Tomorrow I'd too late to move.

Measures are immediate in theory.

I cannot see the police getting shitty at parents bringing kids home from University as technically lots of the terms do not end till Friday.

The lockdown will be more to deal with the jerks lined up outside McDonalds

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 21:03

Yep, BJ said "From this evening"

This lockdown needed to be done, no more delay, before CV cases spiral totally out beyond NHS capacity - whuch they well still do, but not for as long

It was the first speech where he was giving clear instrcutions,
by far his best

NS right afterwards still came over better though - just a more natural communicator
(and I don't agree with her on some other things)

prettybird · 23/03/2020 21:04

If ds does decide he can't cope on his own (and although he's pretty resilient, it could get very lonely and/or what happens if he gets ill) dh or I would go up on our own to collect him. He has a Lidl next door.

yoikes · 23/03/2020 21:05

So I guess I move foodbank to a home delivery system?...

prettybird · 23/03/2020 21:07

Ds has pointed out that BJ still couldn't stop himself from smiling when he was making his serious pronouncement. Hmm

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 21:11

"The lockdown will be more to deal with the jerks lined up outside McDonalds "

It's for the mc too, not just for the oiks

Collecting NT adults from Uni ?
The police might be understanding / not monitoring yet, but it's a risk you'd be stopped

If you do really intend to go, then I'd do so first thing tomorrow - not in a week's time
and phone them now to pack all night if need be

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 21:29

There now needs to be clear guidance to employers and workers about which workplaces should close

I was coming on to say the above. When I realized to my shock that JC had said it first.
This is the bit that is missing still.

midwestspring · 23/03/2020 21:31

Family member still having to travel to work tomorrow in London because office wasn't told to shut down.
They won't be the only one.

ListeningQuietly · 23/03/2020 21:34

My work schedule is unchanged but I'll make sure I have evidence of why I have to be where I am on each day.
The new rules seem entirely sensible IMHO.

prettybird · 23/03/2020 21:34

We're fortunate that we have a large garden, which can now get lots of TLC Wink

I reckon we can reduce our shopping trips to less than once a week - and that's just for milk and later, eggs (have plenty eggs at the moment). My No Deal Brexit stockpile is being put to good use Grin
