We are seeking an extension. Apparently. No prizes for guessing why.

There is no news but COVID news. And that's all there will be for a long time.

Enjoy your stockpile and your sunny uplands it brought.

Keep safe.

Just phoned mum.
Both my brother and sister are there.
Ffs!
I'm so glad of my no deal Brexit stash!
Dh seems to finally be realising this will be bad. Really bad.
We are both keeping super busy atm...displacement activities I suppose :(

Ode to Joy, played from confinement.
Oldmrswasherwoman · 22/03/2020 12:54

Hi all, just de lurking to say thank you all for the non deal brexit stash warnings, topped it up in the past month after following the scared of CV threads. I am not even a semi-prepper but I have never in my life been so grateful not to have to go shopping for a few weeks.

Stay safe everyone x

ListeningQuietly · 22/03/2020 13:22

I am enjoying Mothers day in my garden.
I am NOT going to the beach
to watch hundreds of people in the amusement arcades
or standing in dense queues to buy an ice cream

Tomorrow I will get my cardio by going out for a bike ride along non residential roads and then do yoga at home.

I do not have to mix with ANYBODY other than my husband and kids for the next three weeks
nor do I intend to

dontcallmelen · 22/03/2020 13:32

Thanks as ever to Red & all contributors.
One bit of good news my Dd gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday textbook delivery & both are doing very well.

Just to say, I asked for my post to be pulled.

borntobequiet · 22/03/2020 13:33

Congratulations dontcallmelen!

DGRossetti · 22/03/2020 13:38

Oh well, just pulled 55% alcohol from my still. Things are clearly not so bad, as I'm diluting down to 42% to drink, rather than re-distilling to 80% for hand sanitiser. But then we are awash with sanitiser. DW gets bottles to go with her self catheterisation kit, and (Brexit again) has a stash that will last quite a while.

DS sent a lovely series of emojis for Mothers Day. From work where they are currently on chip cleaning duties (it's a casino). And the beautiful sunshine (all day) does add to the rather dreamlike quality life has taken on.

Meanwhile one of DFs oldest friends in the UK has just passed in hospital (Northwick Park). He had been ill for a while, but still Sad.

AuldAlliance · 22/03/2020 14:00

dontcallmelen
I crossposted.
Congratulations to one and all!

midwestspring · 22/03/2020 14:08

Congratulations @dontcallmelen 💐

pointythings · 22/03/2020 14:17

Congratulations, dontcallmelen.

We are having a quiet day in planning our gardening activities for the next few months.

Congratulations.

Is "Corona" a name yet Grin

Meanwhile, back in the real world, away from waffle, spin hype, and (frankly) Boris bollocks ...

Hopefully you'll get to see them both soon.

Charging medics to work here is so flipping short sighted

Charging medics to work here is so flipping short sighted

It also suggests that "doing everything we can" is either bollocks, or frighteningly very little.

DGRossetti · 22/03/2020 15:22

Alexa, show me a visual metaphor for Boris Johnson’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lovely news dontcallmelen, and I love your freesias. Such heavenly scent too. The immigration surcharge surely will have to be lifted for at least some categories of workers now? (I think it's totally immoral but won't be optimistic about it being scrapped entirely.)

DGRossetti · 22/03/2020 15:33

The immigration surcharge surely will have to be lifted for at least some categories of workers now?

Why ? It's clearly worked so far. We don't want to do anything we might regret now, do we ?

Thank goodness there are sound minds like IDS on this crisis. Who knows what dreadful mistakes lesser people might have made.

If people want to keep dredging up WW2, then it's worth reminding ourselves that for some in power (more than you'd ever realise) there was a view that the war simply wasn't worth winning, if it led to ... socialism.

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2020 15:34

Congratulations on your new granddaughter, melen 💐

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2020 15:36

An immigration surcharge on doctors fighting to save lives Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2020 15:38

Listening If people are still going to amusement arcades and queuing up for ice cream,
then we clearly need a more complete lockdown - these should all be SHUT

Too many selfish fuckwits putting their enjoyment / money over lives

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2020 15:41

Auld Inspiring, yet desperately poignant, to see all over Europe, isolated people playing music together, unable to touch physically

nicerainyweather · 22/03/2020 16:05

Do people feel worried about going to the supermarket? I'm wondering whether to go shopping for fresh food once a week, or to try to survive for a month or so on my Brexit tins and dried food stash. What are you all doing?
Apparently people are now getting ill because they filled up with petrol. I'm waiting to see if that happens to me.

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2020 16:10

Nice Personally, I stopped going to the shops a week ago
but I'm 63, so being more cautious than some others here ?

I plan on staying home for 3-4 months
I'll just eat from my huge prepping stores
and have an online order for frozen veg & meat every few weeks, for variety

DGRossetti · 22/03/2020 16:10

It's supposed to go in the car FFS !
