No TV in this house

Loud music,
Too much gin
and then a bit of silliness later

ListeningQuietly · 31/01/2020 19:30

We are in the ashes ....
Next weeks Chart topper is when we start to reclaim our country

PeterPansCoffee · 31/01/2020 19:30

Popping in just because I have been reading these threads since the referendum and today is a sad day. I feel sad.

PeninsulaPanic · 31/01/2020 19:34

I've been lurking for the last 2 or 3 threads but reading nevertheless, so thanks as always to everyone posting. Well, perhaps not quite everyone, but I'm sure they know who they are 😉

This is, as many have said already, merely the end of the beginning of a monumental fool's errand. I've no intention of giving up reading these threads because I'm certain there'll still be plenty to talk about and (call me psychic, but) I expect some unforeseen positive surprises before very long, no matter how grim and gloomy things will look at times. Leavers will have had their day in just under 4.5 hours time. Many of them will rue it, for all their snide, smug bluster and bullying far.

Here's to future joy 😁

*so far (oops)

Sad SadSad

WhatwouldScoobyDoo · 31/01/2020 19:43

.... Inarticulate but very sad.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/01/2020 19:59

There are fireworks going off here. I expect more later.

GingerPCatt · 31/01/2020 20:07

I keep coming back to this. Need a glimmer of something today

I’m going to try to be brave and not cry. If there are fireworks later, I’ll probably get angry instead Angry

RedToothBrush · 31/01/2020 20:26

Just been to the pub. Mate was handing out bollocks to Brexit stickers. DH had one on his forehead for about half an hour until we persuaded him he was being a twat.

Mate ran out of stickers. Apart from the 250 he still has at home which we kindly suggested he flog on ebay tomorrow as commerative collector's items.

I'm gutted. Not much else to say really but make lame jokes about it all.

Oh and BCF I hope you are having a wonderful retirement party tonight.

Talking about FTA.

There are about 600 FTA signed by the EU. In December 20, they will all have disappeared.
The U.K. has 11 months to sign an agreement with the EU AND replace those 600 agreements.
It’s not going to happen....

I’m wondering what is the government plan for that

SwedishEdith · 31/01/2020 20:33

And what is happening on the one show? A brexit song?

Don't know if that was tonight but yesterday was appalling with the twee Brexitcast lot (except Katya). Alex Jones groaning away when an extension was mentioned. All "Oh, no, not another extension". I felt irrationally enraged at her deliberate (because I can't believe she actually is) stupidity to pander to the audience. If there is to be a BBC axe, the One Show has to be a contender. Or maybe that's why AJ was acting so dumb?

Jason118 · 31/01/2020 20:34

I just saw some vox pops on the local news from pub parties. No wonder we are leaving, they haven't a clue.

SwedishEdith · 31/01/2020 20:34

Antoinette Sandbach getting tearful on BBC Breakfast this morning choked me up a little.

SwedishEdith · 31/01/2020 20:40

I heard there is a group organised on FB to line their cars up on top of the White Cliffs of Dover and parp their car horns at France 'just to show them we're boss of our own country again'.

Obviously, this will be a completely pointless exercise, but, there is a film - The Finest Hours - where cars line up on the shoreline and put the headlights on the guide the boats home. That would have been a dramatic gesture.

The80sweregreat · 31/01/2020 20:45

'Time to say goodbye'
Had it at my mils funeral and it made me weep. I just feel so sad.

CatteStreet · 31/01/2020 20:47

I'll be marking the moment in Berlin, with others in my boat. Have to train it in, I live some way outside these days, in AfD country. Having a large glass of wine before I set off. Tried to persuade eldest (14) to come with me but he's too lazy tired. He's always been half-German. Was born here. Fortunately, he loses nothing, and, having the empathy of a standard teenager, he struggles to understand the wrench, for me.

Still don't quite believe it's happening.

Sad
PawFives · 31/01/2020 20:59

I feel resigned to it after all the drama and false hope of the last few years, and the election result which was the final kick in the teeth. Still a bit sad though, especially at that Led By Donkeys video (as usual people who actually fought in WW2 more dignified and less jingoistic than Brexiters). Do feel the BBC are hyping it up a bit though. Happy retirement @BigChocFrenzy - very envious!

Tanith · 31/01/2020 21:02

From the Alliance Party and Renew EU: "The decisions we make now will define the years to come."

OublietteBravo · 31/01/2020 21:02

I’m feeling very emotional today - I had a little cry after watching the Lead By Donkeys video. I wore blue and gold to work. Tomorrow I may wear black.
