Morning all! Normal service is restored after a slight diversion last night. Sunlight shines in the Brexit Arms; no dark corners in here.
Kettle's on. There's a full tray of ☕️ and another one of bacon rolls, so please help yourselves.
I'm off out to the suppliers as we seem to be running low on gin and that would never do.
I'm thinking we may get extra attention today and possibly new visitors because of last night's intervention. In the spirit of bonhomie, please offer them a drink. No peanuts available, sadly, as the Landlady is nut-intolerant but there are still plenty of Fruit Loops available at the far end of the bar.
The extreme left & extreme right attract very similar people anyway, best to avoid both.
Precisely so, DirtyRottenScoundrel. My old Economics teacher, the one who escaped Occupied Holland, carefully laid out a side-by-side comparison in the behaviour and actions of right-wing totalitarians and left-wing totalitarians and invited us to spot the difference. There wasn't one. He urged us to abhor extremism of any kind. I've never forgotten what he taught us.
Dusty, it's the casual acceptance that was such an eye-opener. I am heartbroken that there are Jewish people in this country who feel they have to keep their bags packed just in case. Now I understand a little more why they do.
Bellini, you were fully justified in what you said on the other thread and I noticed your post was minimised too. There was no big outcry last night. In fact, there were several puerile attempts at support. I was disgusted with them then and I'm still disgusted now....so time for me to get out in the fresh air, breathe deeply, and be thankful that for the moment, we still live in a country where we can call people out for such contemptible behaviour.
Rant over! As you were...
