I'm not promising to be the resident landlady, and I can't even hope to moderate the discussion or offer up great memes etc because I don't know how, but here's opening the next iteration....

First drink is on the house.

“DH is on a promise, ladies.”

Oooh, you saucy minx! Off with you! 😂😂😂

Night night 😉

howabout · 24/11/2019 22:15

Just dipping in and out cos I was watching Reggie in China again. Corbyn lovers should think on about how State enlargement progresses - and income disparity in China is iirc now higher than here.

howabout · 24/11/2019 22:18

Quote from twitter:
"For the last ten weeks, I've been out of work.

No savings, no security, can't pay the mortgage.

I wouldn't vote Labour as long as there is a hole in my arse.

I have principles."

Irony is Labour doesn't have anything for him anyway as he has a mortgage.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:20

“Irony is Labour doesn't have anything for him anyway as he has a mortgage.”

Oh, but they do!

Hyper inflation and sky high interest rates! Hooray! Oh wait...🤔

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:24

At least he can finally have a wheelbarrow of cash.

Brexit Arms: the discussion continues....
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:27

Personally I can’t wait to take my massive pile of cash to go buy next years christmas turkey. I hear it’s going down well in Venezuela.

howabout · 24/11/2019 22:31

Wheelbarrows of cash won't help. The turkeys will all be being exported to the EU or rationed to the Nationalised workers on the picket lines.

Sorry depressing myself now. Wine

Walkingdeadfangirl · 24/11/2019 22:37

Does anyone know or remember why the WASPI women wasn't a thing in the 3 Blair elections, or when Brown, the coalition, Cameron etc was in power.

I doesn't see what is wrong with equalising the pension age and everyone has know it was happening for a quarter of a century.

I could be completely wrong here but has this only raised its head since 2015 when Corbyn rose to power and started handing out blank cheques to win votes?

It just seems like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Today I heard Plaid Cymru saying that Wales should receive UK government compensation for a century of English oppression.

Maybe leavers could demand financial compensation if their votes are ignored?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:40

“Sorry depressing myself now. wine”

Here’s one on me How, Wine.

I guess we just have to keep the faith, the polls look good, although I know that polls don’t always reveal the true result, I’m cautiously optimistic that things will work out. The waiting is awful though. Hopefully 2020, will be a bit less politically constipated for all of us! Wine (with a dose of prune juice to get things moving)

I loved Boris’ line earlier.

“Corbyn Neutral by Christmas’. It’s certainly on my christmas list. 😂

We must empower and encourage people to start their own business, should be taught in schools.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:43

“I doesn't see what is wrong with equalising the pension age and everyone has know it was happening for a quarter of a century.”

Oh! I was under the impression that the plaster was just ripped off? Was that not the case then? Excuse my ignorance on the issue, I’m nowhere near Waspi age, so my knowledge in this area is pretty limited.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 22:44

“We must empower and encourage people to start their own business, should be taught in schools.”

I could not agree with you more Winter! This and managing personal finances, understanding mortgages, interest rates, savings/investments etc... these are such valuable skills to hold.

Winterisnigh · 24/11/2019 22:49

Just seen the Liberal anti Democrats meme dusty.

That's brilliant.

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 22:51

I was under the impression that the plaster was just ripped off?

I'm affected, *Epic

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 22:56

Oops, well, some might say I'm affected GrinGrin

...but I've known about the increase in women's pension age for at least 15 years so I think the WASPI women are being a bit disingenuous when they claim to have only been told in the last few years. The information has been publicly available a very long time. Where they might have had a valid argument is that for years, many paid the married women's stamp (a reduced NI that didn't include state pension contributions).

Then again, my lovely Scouse auntie told me never to bother with the married women's stamp "because it was rubbish" and she died about 20 years ago, so again the information was always known.

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 23:01

Today I heard Plaid Cymru saying that Wales should receive UK government compensation for a century of English oppression.

Erm, the Barnett Formula...Smile

Walkingdeadfangirl · 24/11/2019 23:01

I am pretty sure it was John Major that equalised the pension age, back in the early nineties. It had a very long phase in time, which is why I dont understand why its an issue now, other than the prospect of a Corbyn cash cow.

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 23:02

It was 1995, so you are quite right, Walking.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 24/11/2019 23:05

Thank you Lily. So it was almost a quarter of a century ago.

SingingLily · 24/11/2019 23:07

Incredibly short notice for some then Grin. I've got a handbag older than that!

Doubletrouble99 · 24/11/2019 23:13

Walking, I completely agree that the pension age should be the same for men and women. The first act in 1995 phased in the increase from 60 to 65 which gave me a new retirement age of 63, which should have been this year. However in 2011 George Osborne changed the timescale and speed up the process. Not only that the 2011 act added another year onto everyone's pension age. So all of a sudden I no longer had 8 years till retirement but suddenly it was 11 years!
I can't say this was made very clear at the time, I certainly didn't realise immediately that not only had my pension age increased to 65 but that it had in fact increased to 66! Pensions are a long very term investment and this change has certainly not taken this into account. I still 'retired' at 63 but my private pension is no where near enough to live on having also been decimated by the Gordon Brown tax swoop. The change in 2011 didn't give anyone like me enough time to increase their pension contributions to compensate.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 24/11/2019 23:22

my private pension is no where near enough to live on having also been decimated by the Gordon Brown tax swoop
So the issue might not actually be the equalisation of ages but the Fagan fingers of Gordon Brown.

Isn't Corbyn going to avalanche the problem by destroying all pension investments when he nationalises everything not nailed down.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 23:25

Goodness me, Waspi wise, the media did a fine job on me there then. That koolaid went down easy! 😳😂 Thanks for clearing that up for me, if that’s the case, I will merrily wash out my shit bucket. My Labour ShitSkip is filling up faster than ever though... 😉

Doubletrouble99 · 24/11/2019 23:30

Well it's a combination Walking, because all my calculations were based on having my state pension by now as well as my small private pension which together would have been OK when I decided how much I could afford to pay into the private one.
And yes you are right as I said further up the thread the decimation of pension funds by privatisation of companies and the 10% take over idea they have will just cripple so many people's funds. Stupid stupid people.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 24/11/2019 23:33

So a cross party, mixed bag, Waspi shit show since 1995 then? And Labour now want to compound the issue even further by screwing pensioners with ‘safe’ shares in the companies they want to nationalise? 🤔
