GE is on! Remainers how will you vote?

Just that really! The General Election is on, either 11th Dec or a few days before but it's going to happen now that Labour have agreed. Tactical voting websites are being prepared as we speak.

If you are a remainer, who will you vote for?

(And if any leavers lurk here, will you vote for Tories or Brexit party?)

SNP here.

My constituency went back to Tory in the last general election. Our useless MP has been voting by the party whip despite the area being overwhelmingly remain. It had been SNP for the first time ever before that and I'm confident it will go back. Labour seems highly unlikely.

rainingallday · 29/10/2019 16:16

@TatianaLarina

If we Leave Brexit will dominate the agenda for the next 10 years at least. The debate, the arguments about how to Leave and the consequences will just go on and on and on. The only way for it to be over is to Remain.

What do mean, we will be arguing about how to leave....? For the next 10 years at least......

What the hell do you think we've been doing for the last 3 years?! Confused

And no way in hell are we going to REMAIN! Hmm

Dream on............... Wink

LeggyLinda · 29/10/2019 16:17

Remain voter and longstanding LibDem supporter. But I couldn’t bring myself to vote for them this time around.

Probably spoil my vote or (at a push) vote Labour. Not that there’s any point round our way. You’re pretty much a social outcast if people find out you voted anything but Tory.

Claredogmum · 29/10/2019 16:20

SNP

JenniR29 · 29/10/2019 16:21

@MilkTrayLimeBarrel Why are you on this thread then? It’s asking remainers how they intend to vote. Surely there is one for those who intend to vote Tory/Brexit.

extremity1 · 29/10/2019 16:23

Remainer. Will vote Libdem. Sold my soul in the last election and tactically voted for labour (what was I even thinking?) Live In a Tory safe haven. But feel that ppl should vote with the party they actually want rather than tactically as tactics dont necessarily reflect the views of the voting public.

Roomba · 29/10/2019 16:25

Labour, despite my extreme opposition their treatment of women. My MP is a spineless, self serving Tory who denied that austerity/UC forces local families into using food banks and said they y should be referred to social services if they can't feed their kids Sad He only has a small majority so anything other than a Labour vote would be a waste for me, given my aim is to get him out. Lib Dems get very few votes here, same with the Greens.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 29/10/2019 16:26

JenniR29 - Suggest you re-read the original post (last sentence).

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/10/2019 16:26

Liberal Democrat.

Socksontheradiator · 29/10/2019 16:27

Remainer. Tactical voting here, and it looks like Labour will get my vote. I will hold my nose and vote lib dem if it looks like they have more chance of unseating our tory mp.
My heart says Labour.

NationMcKinley · 29/10/2019 16:27

Labour.

I have a horrid feeling that the Tories will win though Sad

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 29/10/2019 16:28

Can't decide whether to be pleased that some of the Leave vote will be split between Tories and Brexshit party, or scared of them actually winning any seats and potentially forming the coalition from hell.

backaftera2yearbreak · 29/10/2019 16:29

SNP

JenniR29 · 29/10/2019 16:34

Sorry MilkTray, my bad. Apologies.

Can I ask why you want it though? It would seem that the Tories have proved they can’t deliver Brexit and the Brexit party haven’t really specified how they are going to achieve what the Tory party couldn’t.

MrPan · 29/10/2019 16:38

One thing that's positive, I hope is that Johnson and his inadequate band of thick-as-minces, plus nasty bastards who are less thick, are going to have to explain why Brexit is a good idea and how exactly the country will benefit from it. On national media and be questioned by opponents and not just Radio4 presenters as supporters.

I do appreciate that Brexit IS a cult so it may be difficult to bring sense to it's adherents.

FreyaMountstuart · 29/10/2019 16:43

Labour!

Outsomnia · 29/10/2019 16:47

Someone needs to counsel me.

Labour, but I am concerned about the influence of Momentum going forward, as I realise Comrade Corbyn won't be there forever.

Lib Dem's....maybe, but women born as women are the only women I know.

Tories, not a chance. Liars and pocket liners with little or no empathy with those less fortunate.

Greens. Hmmm they are riding the crest of an environmental/ecological wave now and might scupper some other chances.

Solid remainer btw. So am torn. But will be ABT. (Anyone but Tory) I have self respect and empathy you see.

TatianaLarina · 29/10/2019 16:53

Re your comment about Brexit being the priority rather than women's rights, Brexit is not going to be sorted by any party as far as I can see. The Tories have split the country into angry groups and there seems no one with the wisdom and insight to bring it back together. However, the rights of women and safety of children are currently at a tipping point with the population starting to wake up to the awful reality of what is happening. Unless there's a candidate / party prepared to insist on the rights of women to have a respectful and open debate about conflicting rights, they won't get my vote. Frankly, any politician who dismisses women as bigots (as so many Lib Dem and Labour politicians do) renders themselves unfit to be part of a democratic parliament.

ALL our rights - man, woman and child are under threat from the super-hard right. We won’t have any rights left at all or laws to uphold them if we don’t stop the Tories and stop hard Brexit.

A Tory Brexit will be a bonfire of rights and regulations will make the current situation look like small fry.

Parliament is a sexist, misogynist place and so is the world. If you’re deludedly waiting for an ideal political party that respects women - you will have to wait several hundred years!

TatianaLarina · 29/10/2019 16:54

Solid remainer btw. So am torn. But will be ABT. (Anyone but Tory) I have self respect and empathy you see.

For me it would partly come down to which candidate/part is most likely to see off the Tories in your borough.

ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 29/10/2019 16:56

Waiting to see what my sitting Labour MP has to say. Seat has been Labour for years, although only marginally in the past couple of GEs. Area is solid Leave, so if my MP tries to butter up the Leavers, I will either vote Lib Dem or 'throw away' my vote on any minor candidate who isn't from the far right.

Skiaddicted · 29/10/2019 16:57

Remainer and no sodding idea!!!

I dont want to leave the EU (but will accept the original vote outcome - think a revote of the 'deal thats on offer' v 'stay in eu' should be carried out but know it wont

Cannot support Corbyn

Lib Dems?! emigrate?! Just dont know!!

TatianaLarina · 29/10/2019 16:58

What do mean, we will be arguing about how to leave....? For the next 10 years at least......

What the hell do you think we've been doing for the last 3 years?! confused

R-iight. And what conclusion has anyone come to? It will continue for the next 10 years because that’s how long it will take to negotiate a trade deal. And we will have successive governments questioning and seeking to overturn the operations of the previous one.

Outsomnia · 29/10/2019 17:00

Tatiana, safe Fkn (sorry) Tory seat here, but you are right, select the Party who will most likely succeed if everyone on my side does the same, LD I think, but Labour is on the cards too, despite my reservations re Momentum. They remind me of a Left Wing version of ERG 😩

apples24 · 29/10/2019 17:03

Remain voter here.

Local seat is a contest between SNP and Tories so will vote SNP.

SchrodingersKitty · 29/10/2019 17:05

Remainer. Lib Dem probably. Torn, because Greens have a genuine chance here. Was a Labour member for a long time, but left because I couldn't stand the fence sitting 'constructive ambiguity' any longer. I support most of Corbyn's policies (except on Brexit) but he is so breathtakingly useless that I can't bring myself to vote for them.
