OP posts:

Why do people keep talking about no deal brexit anyway ( me included! ) the remainer MP’s made it law that we can’t leave without a deal so we ain’t leaving.

Voila212 · 08/10/2019 19:28

But dirtyrottenscoundrel Boris keeps saying that you will be out by the 31st and no dealis more then likely now. So Is he disillusioned, lying or does he have something up his sleeve?

lljkk · 08/10/2019 19:30

Makes little sense to talk about 'Remainer' MPs.
There are some Remainer MPs (most Libdems, greens, SNP).
Reality is, most MPs are ambivalent about Brexit or are Brexit supporters.

I suspect most feel like I do. Weary of the whole thing and don't know what I Do want, but DO know we don't want to Crash Out.

bellinisurge · 08/10/2019 19:30

The Benn Act only works for the 31 October deadline. If we get an extension, that too will have a deadline and we can still no Deal. Or is that too complicated for you?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 08/10/2019 19:38

It is actually Grin

timshelthechoice · 08/10/2019 19:44

Just kicking the can down the road until eventually, one of these days, it finally falls off a cliff. No surprises there.

Parker231 · 08/10/2019 19:44

Scary how many people don’t understand the implications of a no deal exit.

Dongdingdong · 08/10/2019 19:55

You posts are very interesting, I do admire your trust in the government.

I’m not sure it’s a particularly admirable trait, personally.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 08/10/2019 22:26

Sorry if I offended you @bellinisurge.
However I am not trying to win people over, that time has passed now, the die is cast.

DarkAtTheEndOfUk · 08/10/2019 22:36

So what exactly are you going to do with the people? I ask purely in the spirit of enquiry. What do you think you are going to get out of Brexit? Or quo vadis, indeed?

everythingisginandroses · 08/10/2019 23:35

Dark, you will never get a sensible answer, just the usual howls about betrayal and ill-feeling and resentment. Nice of you to ask, though.

cherin · 08/10/2019 23:46

Earlier tonight Bj met the european president and told him in the face he’s not asking for an extension. So, in the same week, he told the courts one thing and the rep of the club he allegedly wants to leave in good terms he told exactly the opposite.
There, now. How to destroy trust and reputation in a few simple moves.

cherin · 08/10/2019 23:53

He’s trowing a temper tantrum because he wants to go and play in the bigger pen with his big brother Don. Unfortunately the big brother doesn’t really want to play with him because he’s busy playing with his toy tanks and his own bullying (and btw there’s no certainty the kindergarten will not expel him in the near future). But still...that’s enough for Bj to scream and kick and damage his reputation, YOUR reputation (he’s representing you, guys, he’s acting for the country in theory!!!) not just damaging the beginning of the divorce but any hope of civilised proceedings after the divorce to agree the visitation right etc
...

Grumpyperson · 09/10/2019 08:29

True but I'd hope that European politicians are grown up and sensible enough to realise that he does not represent this country (he wasn't elected, he was appointed, and doesn't even have a majority of MPs) and so when we have someone sensible they will engage with them and not punish the entire country (and their own citizens living here) because BJ is an arse.

That said, I don't hold out much hope following Bigchoc's post a few weeks ago about Germans blaming all Brits for Brexit, even those who voted remain. Sad

Mookins14 · 09/10/2019 10:34

So okay, you didn't elect Boris but there he is. Insulting and offending all around him. And I don't see many protests or hear anything other than grumbles on here about the state of affairs. The UK is bringing difficult situations to all of Europe but especially their next door neighbour Ireland, while showing a callous and frankly shocking ignorance about the country. (The historical unrest in Northern Ireland is a situation created by Britain, this seems to be news to a lot of you)

I would be ashamed to be British even if I hadn't voted Leave. But I see a lot of posters here bragging about being able to get Irish (or other european) passports and jumping ship when the situation gets too uncomfortable. So you'll jump ship to a country you didnt pay too much heed to until now, to a country you have given nothing and abandon your own sinking ship? The British public voted in the Tories and have all been complicit in letting the current situation develop.

You are not coming across well on any front.

Alannah1984 · 09/10/2019 11:43

I said the same to DH Mookins. Good auld Ireland to the rescue. Maybe it should be included in their preppers thread 😊

Parker231 · 09/10/2019 13:27

BBC news - MPs will be called to Parliament for a special Saturday sitting in a decisive day for the future of Brexit.
Parliament will meet on 19 October after a crunch EU summit - seen as the last chance for the UK and EU to agree a deal ahead of 31 October deadline.
If a deal is agreed, Boris Johnson will ask MPs to approve it - but if not, a range of options could be presented.

Angryresister · 09/10/2019 14:33

There is no better deal than the one we have. It makes no sense in financial, legislative, political or any other terms. Anything that takes people’s rights away should be stopped, and quickly.

noodlenosefraggle · 09/10/2019 16:35

They should have voted for the last version of the WA then, with protections on environmental and workers rights then. They are all to blame for their silly game playing and one upmanship. I bet they won't vote to revoke A50 either.

DarkAtTheEndOfUk · 09/10/2019 20:29

And I don't see many protests or hear anything other than grumbles on here about the state of affairs.

There's a huge protest in London planned for Oct 19. There were protests around the country on the same evening of prorogation. I went to the local one: I won't be going to London, not because I don't want to, but because I can't affford the cost or time to travel all the way down there.

Apart from the inaccuracy of your statement therefore, a few facts are relevant. 1) The country is genuinely torn on Brexit, split down the middle 2) Most people in Britain have no power. We've been systematically disenfranchised and have no power to make voices heard. Did you not hear about the Iraq protests, or the Miner's strikes? Most people know we have no influence to change government attitudes or policies here, and so just look to their own.

Many of us would rather not be British, or at the very least, not English. What choice do the majority of ordinary people actually have?

DarkAtTheEndOfUk · 09/10/2019 20:30

What do you propose the ordinary person in the streets do about Johnson @Mookins14? What would you do in the same situation?

ListeningQuietly · 09/10/2019 20:38

Saturday October 19th 2019
The first non wartime Saturday Parliamentary sitting in a lifetime
and
The largest Anti Brexit march yet to happen

BE HEARD

CactusAndCacti · 09/10/2019 22:08

Mookins - Please tell me what I can do about Johnson? Please tell me where I personally voted him in?

Bloody hell we are more then aware of the absolute shit show that this is causing across not only the UK but the rest of the EU.

What can we do? I really don't know, I am totally and utterly over whelmed by this,

One of the main reasons we have this shit show is because so many people are feeling disenfranchised with the government, voting Leave was a two finger wave at Westminster, the 'people' don't feel they have been listened to for years, why would we suddenly be listened to.
