Well seeing she's a woman.

Just saying

She is an absolute heroine. Her and Joanna Cherry too. I can't imagine what horrendous abuse they must receive.

I wish I could meet her in person and shake her hand. I'd probably just burst into tears and kiss her feet instead Blush

ssd · 24/09/2019 17:28

I agree.

Agree amasing woman!!

Ambassadorforthedog · 24/09/2019 17:30

Me too, add Lady Hale into that too.

BubblesBuddy · 24/09/2019 17:52

I too find it inspiring that women are spearheading the fight for Parliamentary democracy. The Brexit protagonists wanted to “take back control”. The Law, upholding the role of Parliament, has just done that.

Noconsent · 24/09/2019 17:57

I procrastinated this morning wondering why I'm not achieving as much as her.

Think I answered my own question there...

Miljah · 24/09/2019 18:17

Gina and Lady Hale. Strong women of conviction.

Good on them.

franklymydearidontgivea · 24/09/2019 18:43

But who's standing up for all those that voted to leave?

CreditWhereDue · 24/09/2019 19:09

I agree it's great that we have such strong women in high powered positions and willing to make a stand

But don't for one second pretend this is anything to do with democracy! We had a vote, leave won and ever since then, the entire of the Westminster elite and others have done everything to ignore their vote! And I voted remain!

zsazsajuju · 24/09/2019 19:11

Joanna Cherry first and foremost. But Gina Miller and Lady Hale too.

theunknownknown · 24/09/2019 19:41

Well, there's Farage, Rees Mogg, Johnson and Trump for starters.
You must be proud with such fine bedfellows.

franklymydearidontgivea · 24/09/2019 19:56

And the other 17.4 million who they are trying to stifle. I'd rather be bedfellows with them than sturgeon or junkers or Corbyn

cherin · 24/09/2019 20:14

well, you’ve got a weird taste, going to bed with proven liars, you know relationships don’t last long when not based on honesty, yes?
As long as it’s a free choice

isitfridayyet1 · 24/09/2019 20:22

'But don't for one second pretend this is anything to do with democracy! We had a vote, leave won and ever since then, the entire of the Westminster elite and others have done everything to ignore their vote! And I voted remain!'

Im so tired of this Westminster elite conspiracy theory rubbish! You do understand don't you that Boris Johnson and Jacobs Rees Mogg et all are also part of this elite section of society. They just have different views to the remainers!

So many people buy into this narrative and it's really damaging to the cohesion of society.

TooTrueToBeGood · 24/09/2019 20:27

But don't for one second pretend this is anything to do with democracy

I have seen this sentiment expressed so frequently today it makes me weep. Are there really that many thickets out there that just can't get their heads round the fact that the rule of law is the very foundation on which democracy is built?

franklymydearidontgivea · 24/09/2019 20:29

That's rich, Corbyn is the biggest fraud of the lot, so happy for you to live in lala land believing in him and his cronies

I'm just unhappy and nervous about what will happen next, 17.4 million, the majority of those that voted may decide its time their voice was heard rather than that of the minority and those of a few arrogant tosspots who think their view is more important and more valid.

AlexaShutUp · 24/09/2019 20:41

We had a vote, leave won and ever since then, the entire of the Westminster elite and others have done everything to ignore their vote!

Sorry, but that simply isn't true. Parliament voted after the referendum to trigger Article 50, and there was a will to make Brexit happen. The problems started to arise when Theresa May started laying down red lines all over the place without having sought a cross-party consensus on what Brexit should actually mean. That led to her inability to negotiate a deal that was acceptable to Parliament.

Given that the leave side won the referendum vote by a very small margin, a soft Brexit would have been a sensible compromise. There was never any clear mandate for crashing out with no deal, and parliament has every right to stand in the way of such a reckless course of action.

The whole bloody argument from the leave side revolved around taking back control and ensuring the sovereignty of the UK Parliament, and that's what makes Boris Johnson's unlawful suspension of our elected parliament so ironic. Those who think that this judgement is about politics rather than protecting our democracy really need to give their heads a good wobble and try to read up on the UK constitution.

AlexaShutUp · 24/09/2019 20:45

To those who keep banging on about the 17.4 million, can I just remind you all that over 16 million voted to remain. It was a victory for the leave campaign, but not a landslide. A soft Brexit would have been the fairest way of implementing the referendum result.

This, with knobs on. Not to mention the huge section of the electorate that didn't bother to vote who, but definition, must have been relatively happy with the status quo...

ivykaty44 · 24/09/2019 20:55

We’ve had two votes, the second was as dodgy as f&£@k on both sides, it was only apparently an advisory so let’s have a third vote and bloody we’ll decide in or out

Love Gina Miller and Lady Hale.

Total heroines.

ssd · 24/09/2019 21:17

Joanna cherry too. Proud she's Scottish.

Frankly... only one person on this thread has mentioned Corbyn. You.

Gina Miller is a legend and is exceptionally brave in the face of relentless hatred. It's unbelievable that she had to go to court in the first place to ensure that parliament could have a say on Brexit. In the absence of any sensible opposition party, we need people like her. The fact that millions of people have crowdfunded both her cases speaks volumes, too.

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 21:55

"But who's standing up for all those that voted to leave?" That would be the Prime Minister. Not Gina Millar's fault if he's fucking it up with reckless punts on shutting down Parliament.
