Brexit

To be terrified of no deal Brexit

Having just watched the headlines, it really does seem that Boris is hellbent on taking us out with no deal. The fact he’s thrown down the gauntlet to the EU stating that he won’t come to the table unless they drop the backstop - well of course they’re not going to do that, and Boris won’t back down, so we will be leaving with no deal.

What do you think will be the repercussions of this? I’m terrified I’m going to lose my job and my home. If I’m worried then I can’t imagine what people reliant on various meds are going through.

I think I might stop watching the news as it just makes me anxious.

@mummmy2017 , if I was that self interested (with the benefit of an Irish born Mum), I would say "I'm a prepper, fuck you all, I hope it fucking chokes you". Instead I am trying to get people to see tbe wisdom of a Brexit with a border in the sea/NI as a special economic zone and to give what I hope is practical and realistic budget friendly advice on other threads about getting a buffer of food in now to keep people away from the shops if things get bumpy/pricey/Both.
What are you doing apart from fatalistic whining.

or they do own a house and so self interest seems to be a motivational factor.

What?

But what leavers want counts as well.
Why do you think we have got to this point unless more people want to leave than you realise.
If leavers were as smaller group as your trying project, then how did this happen, or maybe your views are not as polular as you think and you have missread everything.

...or they do own a house and so self interest seems to be a motivational factor.
You know a lot of people who 'own a house' have massive mortgages that they'll never pay off?
'...a motivational factor' in what exactly? Not supporting a no deal Brexit?

Even by your standards, mummy, your posts today are bizarre.

No one is saying Leavers are a small group. Seriously, dial down your victim bullshit. No Dealers are a small but noisy group of Leavers and they are trying to make out that they are the only version of Leave that ever was. They are unpatriotic bullshitters too.

Johnson has no principles, he flipped on EU before and will at the last minute say its better to stay

That was what I was kind of hoping - or at least a retreat from May's red lines so we could stay in the CU and SM.

The rhetoric since he came into office has shattered those thoughts a bit. I agree he has no principles and he's lazy and just wants to be PM - but he has surrounded himself with people who either want to destroy the country (JRM, Patel) or will keep stumm to keep their jobs (Morgan, Hancock, even Gove who said no deal was a bad thing).

So I am no longer as confident that he won't follow through with no deal. But we will see.

My sister works for the NHS, and they are not allowed to publish their Brexit planning documents because the government doesn't want people to know how very bad it is.

Yes, have noticed when you think I am saying things you don't like you try to pretend my posts are bizarre.
Strange then as I said , that all the things you called me an idiot for posting about seem to be happening...
We are now looking them in the face, but 2 years ago I was a thick leaver for saying we could never get everyone to agree and it looked like we would have to go WTO.

But the EU did agree the Withdrawal Agreement? And would happily have agreed to plenty of other agreements, they just had the red line for Northern Ireland due to their being an international peace treaty in place protecting freedom of movement between Ireland and NI.
Why are you trying to blame the EU?

I am saying 28 groups of people will never agree something so big.

The UK are in this group.

Considering UK is the third largest donor, yes definitely. Had it been a member that is a net taker maybe not.

But they did agree the WA.

Which wasn't what May wanted, but was all she was offered. It was voted on and rejected..... It is dead....

But that doesn't mean tbe Member states can't agree anything as you have contended. And as you will find with increasingly pathetic attempts to shaft Ireland.

mummmy2017 · 30/07/2019 14:22

Isn't it a case several agreed to not agreed, because bigger members reminded them they stand to lose more with a no deal?

Wasn’t the backstop not a U.K. proposal, of all things? To move from an impasse situation? Now BJ says it’s undemocratic ;-)

I think he’s playing with fire, trying to blame the EU for eventually not leaving but trying to salvage votes and face. He’s totally reckless, though

Spain gave in over Gibraltar, as they don't have the clout to push it through, but it doesn't mean they agreed, as their comments afterwards show.

All my local pharmacies have signs up saying there are shortages of NHS medication

Whereabouts (roughly) are you?
I'm in NW England and have never encountered this.

Is that addressed to me, as I was the one who said your posts were 'bizarre'? If so, please provide a link to posts where I called you 'an idiot' or a 'thick leaver'.
