Is anything going to get cheaper after, assuming it happens, Brexit?

Parking the utter disaster that is Westminster at the moment:

With unpredictable weather patterns and a weakening pound one can only assume that almost everything is going to get more expensive. Is anything going to get cheaper do you think? We are not on the breadline but at some point, if predictions and the effects of a weakened pound it's going to start hitting everyone where it hurts in the wallet surely?

I believe Tim Martin is going to lower his prices at Wetherspoons 🤔

floodypuddle · 19/07/2019 17:07

Lol

Mummoomoocow · 19/07/2019 17:08

Poundland 💵💵💵

prettybird · 19/07/2019 17:08

Lamb, briefly, if the supposed No Deal plans to do a massive cull are enacted.

While it is difficult to think of much that might bercome cheaper, there are other factors going on in the world like the gradual increasing risk of the situation with Iran 'blowing up' hopefully not literally but already a drone has been shot down and it is difficult to know what the next stage will be.
Then there is Trump and his trade war with China.
There is also the fact the Chinese economy has slowed considerably.
Stack these and more on top of Brexit and it looks like life could become more interesting than many want.
Although Brexit is a 'big thing' in the UK, it is shrinking in world view.

Hmm Confused

Errrr....

There must be something.

groundanchochillipowder · 19/07/2019 17:12

Haahaaa! NO.

Magmatic80 · 19/07/2019 17:15

Houses

Magmatic80 · 19/07/2019 17:16

Oh, and wages. Why pay more when there’ll be more unemployed fighting for jobs

Fightthebear · 19/07/2019 17:17

Lamb & salmon, exports may be tricky for a few months.

Bluntness100 · 19/07/2019 17:18

Labour. Wages will need to drop to encourage companies to stay here or do business here.

Other than that no.

Bluntness100 · 19/07/2019 17:20

Houses won't get cheaper, it's the opposite due to high unemployment with companies leaving and low levels of builders available, there will be a huge increase in buy to let, as people lose their homes and need to rent, those wealthy and secure will snap them up, and rent them back at increased prices, new builds will slow down, increasing the demand on the current stock again increasing prices.

bellinisurge · 19/07/2019 17:28

Uk dignity

tomtom1999xx · 19/07/2019 17:30

House prices will fall apparently, which is good.

soberken · 19/07/2019 17:32

@tomtom1999xx as will salaries

FantailsFly · 19/07/2019 17:34

Houses, share prices, the pound ...

ListeningQuietly · 19/07/2019 17:48

Lamb for the few months until the slaughtered flocks have been eaten.

DoctorTwo · 19/07/2019 17:59

Life. Though the government seem to value it very low already.

MockerstheFeManist · 19/07/2019 18:06

Sugar from the vast planations of Brazil where they've cut down the rain forest. Bad luck if you're a Lincolnshire beet farmer, but hey-hoe, your county was Brexit Ground Zero.

cloudyinjune · 19/07/2019 18:41

Pound Sterling

prettybird · 19/07/2019 18:49

Listeningquietly - great minds.... Wink (But the specific example is very sad)

Quellium · 19/07/2019 18:51

No, nothing. It will hit people really hard.

ListeningQuietly · 19/07/2019 18:52

Prettybird
Surreally, in terms of the UK's carbon emissions, abolishing hill farming and reforesting all of those areas will save money and save the planet.
And the cost of lamb will not change because lowland farms will revert to sheep rather than llamas and ostriches

Quellium · 19/07/2019 18:52

House prices falling is no good to you if you haven't got a job anymore, or you're paying out 25-30% more on food. If they fall, they all fall. I imagine lending restrictions won't suddenly be loosened either.

YeOldeTrout · 19/07/2019 20:42

supposedly food, if we go to no tariffs.
Of course our food may be flooded with cheaper quality imports.
