I would personally vote for Steve Baker.. Who would your choice be?

Another ex banker that favours Brexit. A slightly less offensive Farage. Christ.

Coppersulphate · 25/05/2019 14:44

Boris or Michael Gove.

woman19 · 25/05/2019 14:55

David Lammy.

CrunchyCarrot · 25/05/2019 15:11

Michael Gove or Rory Stewart

jasjas1973 · 25/05/2019 17:16

None, disband the Tory party, put it on a watch list of banned anti state organisations, remove citizenship from anyone who supports them.

BollocksToBrexit · 25/05/2019 17:18

I'd vote 'none of the above'. They're all corrupt, self-serving bastards without a shred of human decency between them.

TheABC · 25/05/2019 17:29

Anyone. The more batshit, the better. I have reached the conclusion that the only way the Tories can realistically honour the referendum vote is to crash out. Let's rip up our trade agreements, disregard the GFA and our international obligations and trash the economy. Anything less is being depicted as a betrayal of the £17 million Leave voters.

More to the point, they can't pass the necessary legislation in the HoC for Brexit as it stands - the only mechanisms open to the new PM will be revoke or dither until the deadline is up.

Fuck the 30 odd million who did not vote for it. Fuck anyone with a job dependent on the car industry. Or steel. Or a lot of our services, come to think of it.

At this stage, it's all about the implosion of the Tory party.

lljkk · 25/05/2019 17:31

Michael Gove. Much as it pains me to say that. Best of a rum lot.
Anyone who campaigned for Brexit is acceptable, though.
They need to finally step up to bat & take responsibility for promising the impossible.

HagridsBigToe · 25/05/2019 20:51

Boris, but hear me out.
He should be forced to take responsibility for what he helped create. He needs to be shown for the charlatan he is.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 25/05/2019 21:16

Gove is my fav, but happy with Boris. exciting times.

1tisILeClerc · 25/05/2019 21:19

{Boris, but hear me out.

As a strategy is is considerably worse than the MN 'burn down the house' because there is a spider in the kitchen.

Genevieva · 25/05/2019 23:55

Depends if they want to win another general election or fight amongst themselves. May was chosen because she wasn't Boris or Gove. Look where that led them (and the country).

Gove and Hunt are, in my view, unelectable because their names are synonymous with the devil for the vast number of people who work in education or health.

Rory Stewart has only been a backbench MP and is a Remainer. I think there will be a drive to have an experienced politician who is a Brexiteer, has charisma and isn't called Boris. But Boris remains popular with a significant portion of the electorate who are either pro-Brexit or less interested in politics, so only remember him from earlier in his career. It is a tough ask. The party has been dominated by a small number of very unpopular politicians for too long.

These No Deal candidates could test their theory by "walking away" from the leadership contest, and waiting for the party to come running to them.

MeganBacon · 26/05/2019 07:40

The person with the greatest intellect. I think this is Stewart but it's hard to tell.

ChangeMyWorld · 26/05/2019 11:29

Baker is known in his own constituency for being corrupt, soulless and with no care or time at all for the people he represents.

I'm terrified about most of them. I think possibly Hunt from me, but it won't happen.

Coppersulphate · 26/05/2019 17:34

I just hope the last two are staunch Brexiteers.
I shall vote for whomever is the strongest leaver supporter.

MockerstheFeManist · 26/05/2019 17:58

As a (near)-lifelong Tory-hater, I vote for the Moggster, to destroy the party forever.

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2019 18:01

I thought JRM wasn't standing

MarniLou · 26/05/2019 18:08

Yup, Gove has decimated our schools and education system. He doesn't deserve to be PM. Woukd be my worst nightmare.

grumpyyetgorgeous · 26/05/2019 18:16

I've come to the conclusion that it needs to be a staunch Brexiteer. The people who campaigned for leave need to now put their money where their mouth is and show us all how Brexit can and should be done without ruining the country or its economy...... so, over to you Boris!!

BumbleBeeWineGlass · 26/05/2019 18:17

Both Hunt and now Hancock can't even get life saving drugs to very sick children, letting over 200 die because of cost issues - how the fuck will they manage something like the shit show that is Brexit?!

They're all crappy but I'd like Rory because he's a remainer.

It will blow the government apart for a hardcore brexiteer to ignore the HOC and go for a no deal exit.
