Cooper Bill and New Law

The Cooper Bill has received Royal Assent. Does this now mean that:

A: we are legally bound to leave WITH a deal and therefore can't leave without one therefore no deal is forever off the table? (Also known as "can I eat my food stockpile?"

Or

B: It only binds TM to ask for an extension to avoid no deal but if an extension isn't granted then we could still leave without a deal?

Am confused as usual and the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet Sad

The latter I'm afraid. We can not compel Europe to grant us an extension. Without one, we leave.

Unless we don't.

If we revoke, then drinks are on me at the local pub!

The EU are in charge of the EU and our parliament can invent as many laws they like but non of them are binding in EU law . If the EU wanted no deal to happen they would in theory be able to say 'non'. Unlikely senario but they call the shots.

It's been a pleasure watching brexists combust about the queen staying up late to sign it. Grin

It was naive of the monarchy to imagine that not intervening was the uncontroversial option here. I'm afraid it simply demonstrates to supporters of constitutional monarchy that we do not have one any more. When we finally win, the monarchy will have to be abolished, alas.Andrew Lilico added,

Since when does the Queen interfere in Parliament? She has no powers over them. They are sovereign. (which was a word that was bandied about by people with little idea of what it meant in 2016).

If the Queen simply blocked all the laws she didn't like, or refused to form a parliament she didn't approve of, it would make us an absolute monarchy.

Countries with Absolute monarchies: Brunei, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Vatican City, and each individual part of the UAE. Lovely examples of fair and open societies in there.

Lillico is an idiot, has he no idea what a Constitutional Monarch is?

She can informally advise but the moment she started interfering with Parliament it would be the beginning of the end for the Windsors.
