“Let me be clear: such thinking is unacceptable. You cannot betray the 6 million people who signed the petition to revoke article 50, the 1 million people who marched for a people’s vote, or the increasing majority of people who want to remain in the European Union.”

To heckling from Ukip MEPs, Tusk went on: “They may feel that they are not sufficiently represented by the UK parliament, but they must feel that they are represented by you in this chamber. Because they are Europeans.”

Yes. Immensely grateful to him for this. What a moving and powerful expression of support.

jasjas1973 · 27/03/2019 20:45

All well and good but ultimately pointless, we are leaving shortly, barring a miracle and no longer europeans in an EU/MEP context, we will be represented by Westminster only.

Singletomingle · 27/03/2019 20:52

Buts its ok to betray the 17.4 million who voted leave? Also its been shown there were not 1 million people on the march according to fullfact.org there was at most 400,000 people, but remainers never lie.

Lottapianos · 27/03/2019 20:54

'Immensely grateful to him for this. What a moving and powerful expression of support.'

I agree. He's showing more concern for Remain voters than anyone in our own government

Mokepon · 27/03/2019 20:55

Love wee Tusk.
We're all being lied to Singletomingle. It's a travesty.

Mammajay · 27/03/2019 20:56

17.4 to leave 16 million to stay and that was 3 years ago. As we now know so much more, surely singletomingle you would welcome a confirmation vote?

Mammajay · 27/03/2019 21:00

Lotta I don't agree. People like Dominic Grieve and Anna Soubry have put their political career son the line for remain. Brave Anna has also had death threats.

Singletomingle · 27/03/2019 21:04

Mammajay if I'm honest I don't care. Its a waste of time because whatever the result we will not leave even of we had 10 votes each 1 with leave winning our traitorous mps will block it and remainers will still complain its unfair.

Lottapianos · 27/03/2019 21:28

Ok, you're right Mamma. There are some Tories with their heads screwed on, just a shame there aren't more of them

Noname99 · 27/03/2019 21:37

Yes of course. Wonderful man .... his only thought is to support the people of Britain.

lljkk · 27/03/2019 22:38

Thing is...

No matter how people voted in 2016, they all have a right to say what happens next. If Remain had won, nobody would be saying to Leave voters "You Lost! Forever more You have no right whatsoever to ever comment again on how EU operates or what impact it has in our lives!"

Similarly, Remainers have every right to comment and campaign about Brexit choices and decisions. Especially when Parliament can't find any way forward with choosing even a simple WA, never mind an actual Trade Agreement.
