Why would a change of PM make a difference?

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I don't understand why replacing May might mean her deal gets accepted this week?

It's just more Conservative Party politics isn't it? I don't understand how who presents the same deal makes any difference unless it's a chance for Conservative MPs to gain something.

Holidayshopping · 24/03/2019 12:56

She’s been heavily criticised for not listening to anyone in her party and just steamrolling ahead with her own plans. Maybe the stories want someone who will listen?

Applesandpears23 · 24/03/2019 12:58

I agree that it is a ridiculous position that you would support this deal presented by a new PM but not if it is presented by May. I wouldn’t vote for a politician that said that.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 12:59

I took it to mean we don't agree with your deal but we can be bought.
Corrupt beyond belief.
I'd love it if she says "I'm off and forget the sodding deal, I wanted to remain anyway. Screw you lot"

nuttynutjob · 24/03/2019 13:00

David Liddington's voting records
here

Bluntness100 · 24/03/2019 13:01

I think it's shit, they are saying they will vote for her deal if she resigns, personally I think they should be voting for the deal if they think it's the right deal, not about whether they like the prime minister or not.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 13:05

Exactly!!! The deal stands or falls on its merits.
But what shocks me is it's so blatant now. We know this sort of corrupt crap goes on but they're not even making any attempt to hide it.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 24/03/2019 13:08

I think Liddington has said he doesn't want it?
I just thought I must be missing something, like Bluntness said, it's supposed to be about the deal not the leader isn't it.
I didn't pay enough attention to the whole debacle over the past months and now I find myself not understanding a bloody thing.

Of course he's said he doesn't want it. It'll be tomorrow or Tuesday he makes his move.

wigglypiggly · 24/03/2019 13:11

It's a threat, they will vote for her deal if she resigns and someone else takes over the next part of the negotiations, that's what I understand. Horrible way to behave, I'm surprised she hasn't just walked away and let them get on with it if they think they can do better.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 24/03/2019 13:11

I'm a bit like you stealth, half hope she gives them all the finger and swans off to a spa in Thailand with Philip for a month.
Can't say I've ever been a massive fan of hers but blimey she's resilient, I would be rocking in a corner if I'd been in her shoes.

How the Conservatives and Labour handles Brexit made me even angrier, and realise how useless our MPs, and the 2 main parties are, they don't really care about the country, only to their parties.

I live in a constituency that voted heavily Remain 67%, and my MP who supposed to represent us, are Brexiteer, who voted and fight for "No Deal" Brexit.
Go figure! it's just because she's a "safe" conservative area, she can do whatever she wants basically. They don't really care, only care about themselves.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 24/03/2019 13:13

They are all a shower of shites, don't understand how anyone could see this mess as a career opportunity.

14000 signatures gets us to the 5m mark

wigglypiggly · 24/03/2019 13:44

We had a vote, we voted to leave.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 13:58

We had a vote in 1997 to elect Labour. Things change. In this case, new facts emerge, as opposed to lies

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 14:00

It should be at 5m soon. Just watching it increase.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 14:00

Thats about one in nine of the adult population!

chocolateworshipper · 24/03/2019 14:01

wiggly would you like to be able to decide between May's deal and No Deal?

wigglypiggly · 24/03/2019 14:10

Yes I would like that choice, how about yourself?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 24/03/2019 14:13

David Liddington's voting records

Usual pos tory voting record

MockerstheFeManist · 24/03/2019 14:15

Because a new leader could abandon the red lines and agree to go to EEA terms for now, with a future govt free to stay or leave.

The Govester is keeping very quiet, like John Major with toothache.

AlunWynsKnee · 24/03/2019 14:19

It's at 5 now Stealth

nuttynutjob · 24/03/2019 14:42

Re we had a vote, we voted Leave

Well how about the 3 million people who had their social media data harvested and had targeted Facebook ads, suggested YouTube videos, data algorithm suggestions etc and other subtle voting manipulation.

StealthPolarBear · 24/03/2019 14:43

And n if you claim we weren't lied to that's great. I await the £350m per week to fix the NHS very happily.
