Westminstenders: Flextension

Just wrote an intro and wiped it. So this is as quick as I can sum up.

EU response is extension to 22nd May if May passes her deal by 29th March

Or an unconditional extension to 12 April which could be extended with a plan and understanding to take part in EU elections.

This isn't what may wanted. It gives her less time and leverage

It opens up the possibility of her being ousted as PM in the next couple of days. Graham Brady asked her to quit on Monday. Remain Cabinet ministers are threatening to quit if May whips a vote to support no deal.

The talk is May has indeed flipped to supporting no deal with many think she's pretty much gone full on Colonel Kurtz.

The EU are in effect supporting parliamentary sovereignty and are being incredibly reasonable.

May now has to decide whether to accept.

The whole situation looks explosive and likely that one half of the cabinet or the other are on the brink of walking. And May's power is so shattered.

However she remains the gatekeeper and as it stands if she's hell bent on no deal, it will be extremely difficult for Parliament to prevent that.

Property

Spread the word with people you know that there are lots of pro Europe open minded UK citizens.

I'm worried that they all think we are idiots.

Placards done.Smile

Kent live are reporting the pro brexit go slow protests and it's pretty funny.. Of course on all the local pages its full of 'leave means leave' 'no deal is ok' etc... I think I'm going to have to stay away from social media for a while, I keep getting in very frustrating arguments with people who just do not understand words..

"One group member summed up with: "We look like a bunch of hopeless t. I can’t be f to even look at organising another one.

"If someone does I'll turn up but it ain’t worth the hassle."

Oh dear."

OublietteBravo · 22/03/2019 21:45

Do I need a placard? I haven’t found time to make one, but I’m still intending to march.

wheresmymojo · 22/03/2019 21:46

I wasn't going to march tomorrow for various personal reasons. I've just changed my mind. Probably no time to find a red toothbrush but I'll keep my eyes out for any others!

Another link to actual facts about people signing up to the petition in case any leavers need a helpful chart

oubliette
just be there - that is what matters

wheresmymojo · 22/03/2019 21:47

Oubliette....no placard required, just as good to be there and add to the numbers!

colouringinpro · 22/03/2019 21:48

In other news I just got told off for posting a link to the Revoke Petition in a class WhatsApp group! (And mentioning kids with emails can sign it).

"Bit too political for a school parent's group?" was the comment.
I was very restrained in my reply
"Really xxx? Probably the most significant issue of our lifetime? As you were..." (ie go back to talking about who can take who home from football club...)

This situation is definitely making me more ranty!

wheresmymojo · 22/03/2019 21:49

My marching buddy is taking a unicorn balloon Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 22/03/2019 21:50

Great placards Susan!

TiddleTaddleTat · 22/03/2019 21:57

Disappointed I can't be at the march tomorrow. Hope those that are going enjoy themselves and are buoyed by being part of such a movement ... hopefully it will have some effect.

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 22/03/2019 22:00

Sad that I can’t be on the march tomorrow - it involves two overnight bus trips from here which I can’t do with small DCs.

March for us please! Xx

Wenttoseainasieve · 22/03/2019 22:02

@Youcantscaremeihavechildren

That Kent Live page is hilarious!!

'We have failed' declare Brexit Direct Action after 'vowing to bring the country to its knees'. Grin

And their emblem!! The snail emoji emblazoned upon a Union Jack background bahahaha 🐌 🇬🇧

It's like a comedy sketch!

tobee · 22/03/2019 22:04

Just seen the photo of eu leaders with missing Theresa May on news at 10

prettybird · 22/03/2019 22:09

Totally superficial (although actually quite serious): I've had a thought about that godawful coat that Theresa May wears all the time. If joked with dh that it must have been a Christmas present from someone special Philip as otherwise why would she wear something soooo unflattering and ugly all the time, even on milder days Confused

I then had a thought they sometimes come to me Wink: what if the two layers of the jacket include a bulletproof flak jacket? Shock

TalkinPaece · 22/03/2019 22:10

prettybird
nah, she just has crap taste

67chevvyimpala · 22/03/2019 22:14

Oh!

Uri Geller is going to prevent Brexit telepathically!

Tbh you know things are pretty dire when that's not the maddest thing I've heard this week....

RedToothBrush · 22/03/2019 22:16

Elsewhere in the country there may well have been a hold up or two.

But Kent's roads moved as (slowly) as they usually do - with no more hold ups than usual.

And

One supporter said: "Two of us turned up on A46 but someone had told police to expect two hundred, so six police cars turned up with us."

Another disappointed driver DID head to the M25, but said he was rather lonely.

He said: "I trundled down the M25 from junction 27 to junction 30 but it was a shame no one joined me."

Another member of the group angrily added: “People ain’t got the b*. It was a good idea but we have failed.

Priceless!

I was a book publicist a few years ago and Uri Gellar once phoned me up to complain that someone else had been rude to him. It took me 20 minutes to placate him and even then I had no idea why he was cross.

Jennifer Rankin@JenniferMerode

Macron - who told EU leaders the chances of deal passing commons were 5% -
declines to speculate on what will happen in UK, saying he could not imagine that case law from the 17th century would come up. Blush

"We don't want to humiliate anyone, we don’t want to push someone into a corner but at some point ...we need deadlines," says Macron.
