Ok so from what TM said tonight, looks like she is going to put her WA deal to the house again for the 3rd time. Except, I thought the speaker said yesterday that couldn't happen
I'm confused Confused

The rules are as Bercow said, can't keep putting the same bill to parliament again unless it is substantially different from the one previously defeated OR the mood of the HoC has changed.

I don't think Bercow will allow a vote and i don't think the EU will allow an extension.

May is being delusional as well as promoting hate towards MPs.

MelanieCheeks · 20/03/2019 22:47

Speaker said it can't happen without substantial change. The letter to the Euro asking for an extension probably qualifies.

PizzaCafe2016 · 21/03/2019 06:43

Don't think EU will give an extension without good reason. Kicking the can down the road till 30 June 2019 does not solve anything unless UK and EU can make another deal by then.

Can't see a 3rd vote being helpful either. Get the impression Labour will vote against anything put forward by May just to be obstructive and as means to slag off the Conservative party in the hope of another general election being called for.

Does the EU's terms for extension count as significant grounds in Speaker's eyes?? I don't think anyone will back her now though, she blew it last night.

OutwithMyRemit · 21/03/2019 07:31

I think attaching an extension to the deal means the vote will be allowed. But there's no way it'll pass.

PizzaCafe2016 · 21/03/2019 07:38

I think attaching an extension to the deal means the vote will be allowed

How does an extension change the terms of the deal? I don't think it does and the speaker Bercow will stop the vote taking place.

Even of there is a 3rd vote there is a majority of 149 to overcome.

bellinisurge · 21/03/2019 08:49

The speaker DID NOT say there can't be a 3rd Vote on WA. He just didn't.
A few weasel words to tweak it and we will have it again.
Do not be seduced by the myth that he has banned a third vote.

The80sweregreat · 21/03/2019 08:59

I have a feeling they will 'tweak 'the old deal to include some new paragraphs about the backstop or an extension of article 50 till the end of June.
This might be enough for the speaker to allow another vote on it as it will be worded differently to the other two.
It might go through : it might not.
Sounds like they are all talking about this happening now.
