Permanent residence and settled status android app

Quick question:

does anybody know if you can use the Settled Status app to convert your permanent residence to the settled status?

I have just looked into it after downloading it but got a bit miffed when I was asked for payment (as I already paid £65 when I applied for permanent residence in 2017), so did not complete the process.

I know that any monies paid will be refunded but it seems to indicate that it is not aimed at people who already have permanent residence.

I am planning to call the Home Office tomorrow (and not looking forward to it!) but if anybody has experience of converting their permanent residence to the settled status via the app, I'd love to hear from you.

If you have twitter or Facebook I think your best bet would be to ask "the 3 million" organisation which represents the interests of EU citizens in the UK. They will be able to give you the correct advice.

Thanks, Misti. Good point! I will try that. I will also call the HO. I'll report back if I get a definitive answer.

In case anybody else is in a similar situation to mine, the app does work for EU citizens who already have permanent residence, and I have been able to complete my application for settled status.

The EU Settlement Resolution Centre is also contactable on 0300 123 7379 and the HO person I talked to was much friendlier than the one I spoke with 14 months ago when I applied for permanent residence.

Maybe they are truly making an effort to facilitate the process this time around...
