We could be waiting a long time, but that's what we have to wait for as that's what the EU is waiting for.

The EU has requested we expand on our plans for 'alternative arrangements' with regard to the backstop.

We need to do so before the next HoC vote on 14th Feb. The EU see no point in shifting their position before than. And the UK will struggle to provide the info the EU want before then. So there is now some doubt as to whether the vote will go ahead as planned.

About a third of the Cabinet now believe that Brexit will have to be delayed due to legislation not being ready for exit date. However we don't have power over this and we might still exit without it.

There is no Brexit related business next week in the HoC to prevent pesky amendments. The recess has been cancelled but MPs have been told its OK to go on their ski holidays so it's just a PR stunt.

Meanwhile No Deal is in full effect as businesses trigger their exit strategy in the absence of certainty. No Deal is reality for many even if we do have a last minute deal...

We are all about to get poorer. As that's what we voted for.

Destiel I am allergic to penicillin too.

I have had strep four times, the first time in Ireland (this was when I discovered my allergy to penicillin) and the other three times in the US. They do a quick swab in the US but for some reason my strep has always defeated that and I have been told by phone a day later after the lab has worked its magic that I have strep, and given a Rx for erythromycin. DS had strep twice in the US and the swab worked perfectly for him not so well for the nurses as he barfed all over them.

Destiel · 03/02/2019 01:45

I cant take erythromycin...it gives my nephritis.
It's a nightmare.

OlennasWimple · 03/02/2019 02:35

I'd never heard of strep throat until we lived in the US, and DC's friends came down with it at various times across the winter. Still not entirely sure what it is...

Rhubarb is only edible with custard. Birds custard, obviously

Dear Maryjoyce

I was so relieved when you arrived on this thread.

I've been reading it, and its predecessors, for months.

I sort of get most of what most posters are on about, and on the whole, I agree with them, when I understand what they are saying.

Your appearance seems to have forced them to explain their points of view as they would if they were talking to a 6 year old.

Which has been fabulous for me because I now get it to the the extent that I could even explain it to someone else!

I'd like to send all of them some large glasses of Wine and hunks of Cake

And to you, a Glitterball, I think you'll need it.

mathanxiety · 03/02/2019 03:33

It's a streptococcal infection affecting the throat that causes high temp, headache, debilitating body aches, sometimes serious nausea, and massively sore throat with characteristic inflammation, redness and dotted red areas internally in the throat, sometimes with white patches mixed with the red. It can lead to scarlet fever which can in turn lead to rheumatic fever and heart valve damage, and pneumonia. Spread by droplet infection, sharing utensils or drinks, touching objects that have been touched by someone contagious. Very contagious. Some people are more susceptible than others all the same.

Scandaloso · 03/02/2019 03:36

I'll tell you what it is. It's agony!

When you think 'will I just hold this saliva in my mouth forever rather than risk the agony of swallowing it'.

signed,
A multi strep survivor

Yes indeed - last time I had it I lay on the couch and wished for death.

YeOldeTrout · 03/02/2019 04:27

I know this is Westminster chat, but I have found some of the EU-perspective analysis very helpful. Brexitcast podcast: they get too giggly, but (30th Jan upload) had these nuggets:

EU honestly thought there would be some kind of coalition around WA
&
"The only reason there isn't abject panic in the capitals of Europe is that they are transfixed by what is happening in Westminster. They're still eating popcorn."

And then there is Sabine Weyand. That woman may be a God. Her speech is < 14 minutes and well worth a listen. Best line may be

Much of the UK discussion about way forward is "uninhibited by any knowledge of the Withdrawal Agreement"

Well they won’t need to export all their shit to us, will they, when we’re drowning in millions and millions of gallons of home produced slurry. At least it’s one thing we’ll be self sufficient in.

After all, it’s the swill of the people.

MerdedeBrexit · 03/02/2019 07:44

Buteo, thank you for that huge Grin your last remark put on my face Grin

Hugo Rifkindd@hugorifkind*

"Honouring the referendum" is becoming the UK version of America's mindless deference to the letter of the Constitution.

It's what people say when they're worried they're wrong but want an excuse to stop thinking.

mrslaughan · 03/02/2019 08:12

@Quietrebel
USA food - I am a really good cook to - things to do avoid - meat, unless it's organic- but I would generally just avoid (growth hormones and e.coli)
Wheat/flour - as they spray with roundup(the great Monsanto) to dry the crop off before harvest. Mind you they do the same here - reason to only use organise flour and pasta.

RedToothBrush · 03/02/2019 08:35

BCF imho Labour supporting her deal will just boost Con in the polls even more.
In the UK, an opposition party that supports the incumbent Govt rarely ends well.
Labour offer nothing for many voters, if your a leaver - vote Tory, a remainer - vote???? insert here

LibDems just don't appeal, their leader lacks charisma and is frankly too old, they also have the hang over of being in league with the Tories.

However, if May went to the EU with a CU proposal (eu have said they will oen WA for this) then Lab have would support it, they'd have no choice, though how Turkey Deal is good for the UK is anyone's guess!

But she won't do this, her party wont allow it! so I believe May is determined to have a so called negotiated no-deal, everything she does is straight out of the ERG and its looks increasingly supported by the electorate.

Feel quite depressed this morning, BBC/Media are reporting the Nissan decision as little to do with Brexit, even though Nissan have not commented on why they will pull investment in the x-trail....

LonelyandTiredandLow · 03/02/2019 08:42

Mary came and demonstrated nearly the entire range of Leave philosophy I've been noting from my other Leave friends. Typical "well I'm off" when faced with the facts too. Fascinating how similar they are!

I am having success with my broccoli seeds so far - they are looking tall and cressy at any rate. My aubergine plant keeps flowering and then dropping the flowers - do I need a bigger pot for it to fruit? I'm keeping all of them indoors as I kill anything as soon as it leaves the house Grin or maybe it just chooses to stop living...either way I have flourishing greenery indoors and multiple sticks ex bushes/roses/wisteria in the garden Hmm

I think Labour is wise to split, but am surprised the Tories aren't and are so far up in the polls. I'm as confused as to why as the pp who asked. I see the main Tory party won't want to split but I did think the ERG lot would be off for a far right jaunt. I suspect they won't go unless pushed.

Maryjoyce · 03/02/2019 08:49

No I had plenty of real life things to do rather than listen to a crystal ball full of shit guesses.

Maryjoyce · 03/02/2019 08:50

As I am off out very soon today also with little time till this evening so you can enjoy your moaning all day

LonelyandTiredandLow · 03/02/2019 08:52

There's that common theme of "oh but I'm far to busy to think about it all really" too. Fascinating.

Maryjoyce · 03/02/2019 08:52

And a post that is written by an obvious reporter from some rubbish paper or other doesn’t hold much useful info sadly

Maryjoyce · 03/02/2019 08:53

I don’t need to think about it I voted to leave I voted to leave without a deal and I hope it happens simple as

Maryjoyce · 03/02/2019 08:54

Anyway I’m off out at 9.30 so you can all enjoy your moaning to each other all day

HerLadySheep · 03/02/2019 08:56

Nobody voted for no deal, some people voted to leave the EU, they were never told what that would look like.
