Brexit - possible delay until end of June?

The Guardian is reporting that the EU expects Brexit to be delayed until June. I'm guessing no one is actually booking and paying for summer holidays in Europe this year?

Which year?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 31/01/2019 16:18

My nerves can’t take an extension😖

OhHolyJesus · 31/01/2019 16:23

More time to stockpile! Good news for those I know travelling in April too. I'm not leaving this country until it's all sorted. I'm scared shitless and I don't think my nerves can take it either but maybe it's more time to have another referendum? I live in hope. Hope is all I've got.

Would sort me out. I'm supposed to be flying on the 30th March!

We were really hoping to camp in France this year. Haven't had a holiday outside UK for 10 years as we couldn't afford it with 2 small kids. Finally able to afford it this year but too worried to book anything in case we lose it. We have often camped in Cornwall and Devon but I reckon all the UK holiday places will be mobbed during school holidays as hardly anyone will go abroad.

I wasn't able to book time off work in the school holidays last year, but managed to book a fortnight in August this year :-(

Hopefully any extension will result in a deal going through.

averylongtimeago · 31/01/2019 16:43

I don't think holidays in the EU will be affected- especially in France where the tourist industry relays so much on UK visitors.

There will be additional paperwork- international driving permits, green card for the insurance, trailer registration if you tow a big trailer, rabies antibodie test and longer wait before travel for pets, but there is time to sort all that out.

SalrycLuxx · 31/01/2019 16:47

Great Hmm more farce. While an extension is frankly needed now, I can’t view this as a good thing.

Just more time to haemorrhage businesses.

Up to the MEP election date?

AlexaShutUp · 31/01/2019 20:14

I'd be pleased with a delay - dd is going to a European country with her school in early April, and I'm quite worried about what might happen.

I'm not willing to book a holiday for the summer until I know what's going on.

I thought as it's snowing they could announce they are cancelling brexit. People don't usually riot in bad weather. Better than food shortages causing riots later on.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2019 20:32

In a bizarre burst of optimism we booked a few days holiday in France in June. I guess it might not be happening if things get pushed back til June.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 31/01/2019 20:36

Is that when the invisible technological solution to the border will be sorted?

JarndyceVersusJarndyce · 31/01/2019 20:48

Good!
