Flights in March

Is there likely to only be issues with flying after 29th March?

DP lives overseas (not in Europe) and I'm contemplating visiting him in March. Would get home week before 29th. I want to go but I'm a bit nervous about how things will be then. Also wondering if I should save my money in case the SHTF. What do you think?

I have money in my bank for April flights to the med
it stays there till a deal is signed

Everything should be normal before 29th March.

I wouldn't book flights for early April . Even if there isn't a deal there will be arrangements in place which should keep things moving, but there might be mess while people get used to the new customs arrangements etc.

You'll be fine, though!

Thanks! Thinking about it a bit more seriously now and have told OH that I'm considering coming over (bit of cheer before the SHTF on 29th).

See the leaked Border Force document Faisal Islam obtained about disruption to flight.

I can't see any reason why flights would be disrupted in March. I'm flying to the U.K. in mid March for work, returning to France on the 15th or 16th by Eurostar and I can't see any reason why there would be problems. It will be my last non essential trip to the U.K. until we know how Brexit shakes out though.

Where you might see some pre-Brexit impact is in freight (if there is no agreement, will freight drivers want to risk being stuck the wrong side of a border?) but I can't imagine there would be any impact on flights until closer to the end of March.

March will be fine, it'll be April that's the problem in a no deal.

Mistigri · 27/01/2019 13:19

If there's really no deal you could see an impact in the day or two before. Airlines won't want aircraft or crew stranded.

^^That's true.
