Anyone else had issues with medication?

DH went to fill his repeat prescription today and was told the meds supply chain is fucked due to "uncertainty around Brexit" we cannot get any from any of our local pharmacies. They are all stating "supply chain issues" Last month we had difficulties but did get some. Now they have nothing and can do nothing it seems. We are just in a long list of people who will be called if they manage to source some.

I'm starting to panic. He has a chronic illness and his quality of life without meds is zero. This is probably the least important med he takes but the effect of him not taking it is already awful.

Has anyone else come across this? Any pharmacists who could reassure me that we aren't totally fucked?

It's naproxen is it makes any difference.

I'm surprised you need an rx for it, it's over the counter in the US.

I've used this Indian chemist many times for things simply due to the prices and they're very reliable. You can order it there and they'll ship it to you in the UK.

It's even cheaper on Amazon's US site, but I don't know if they'd ship it to you in the UK. Might be worth a try.

I know it's OTC in the US but it's not here. I have no intention of ordering drugs online.

I was just wondering if it's a nationwide issue and if anyone has any insight on if there may be a resolution.

I'm more scared that other meds may also be affected.

I've heard mumblings of med shortages after Brexit but not seen anyone else mention finding them now.

I remember a pharmacist once told DH he could buy Feminax Ultra in place of narproxen over the counter.

is it because it's a special formulation with omeprazole?
if yes ask the pharmacist if they can get you separate tablets of each.

My prescription tablets have not been available for a few months now, no warning just stopped. They cause unpleasant withdrawal effects when stopped suddenly, luckily I had a stockpile and am able to withdraw slowly.

I've heard from many that naproxen is having supply issues yes. Although it's dosage issues that are restricted.
Can he go to the Gp and try another anti-inflammatory?

Meloxicam is a pretty good substitute if it's available.

I got my naproxen fine pharmcist didn't mention anything about supply.

Yes feminax extra is naproxen.

I know a few that have Naproxen and have had no issues whatsoever.

Lots of twitter reports that Naproxen is not available if you search there too. Really sorry for your DH.

It is probably a combination of factors, but if supply is being diverted into Brexit-related stockpiles then that will be reducing availability.

I haven't had any problems getting my medications, although I need to put in a repeat next week so will see what happens then.

Yes. I've had trouble with a few meds. Plus we are having trouble at work getting various things aswell.

We have had problems getting my sons medication: the receptionist at the GP surgery said there are several common medications that are causing a problem. Some are just the usual issues (manufacturing delays due to broken machines etc) but others are because supplies are being diverted to hospital/CCG stockpiles and away from community pharmacies.

Diclofenac should work just as well as naproxen. I know doctors are attempting to get folk to change from Diclofenac to naproxen but if you can't get the latter then worth asking for, even if just as a once off. Pain is absolutely no fun to deal with.
