Westminstenders: A vote too far?

RedToothBrush · 10/12/2018 09:16

The ECJ have ruled that the UK can unilaterally revoke A50.

There maybe lots of other news today, but that's the big one.

May has her big vote tomorrow. Or does she.

Will she survive until the end of the week?

Nomore, May would win a vote of no confidence. MPs wouldn't vote in essence to put their seats on the line.

DGRossetti · 10/12/2018 17:29

Enough of this stupidity, time for a military coup.

I believe that's a criminal offence. MNHQ might have to pull your post.

BigChocFrenzy · 10/12/2018 17:30

@red That opinion poll needs another alternative:

"or do you think we have already Brexited" !

IsobelKarev · 10/12/2018 17:32

If we can't have the military, can we have the queen in charge?! Anyone other than the current crop of bickering, self-serving, clueless members of parliament.

Somerville · 10/12/2018 17:32

So, given that no-deal now looks more likely again, are the ERG going to stop sending in their letters of no confidence to Brady? I do think that having Theresa May blundering us into no-deal suits them more than one of them becoming leader and doing it on purpose.

MonkeysMummy17 · 10/12/2018 17:32

Have never posted on these threads before, however watching this unfold it's bloody frightening!
TM is a broken record, absolutely uninterested in anything other than her deal, she's convinced she knows what all people who voted leave wanted from that vote and completely ignorant to the many, many voices of despair.
The referendum may have divided the nation, but her resolute attitude to being dead set on leaving because its the will of the people... Its horrific. She is conveniently ignoring that 48% of the voters actually didn't want this at all, and that people voted on something that no one knew how it would even look when it happened.
Absolutely despair, all heil president may eh.

Grinchly · 10/12/2018 17:33

Grieve is a gentleman.

The gamble is that it was ultimately a political not a legal manœuvre.

May continues to astonish with her crazy brinkmanship and wilful setting aside of due process.

What I don't understand is what will become of the speakers intervention in favour of a vote on the delayed vote.

plaidlife · 10/12/2018 17:33

CNN have just headlined the negative impact of May's cancelling of the vote on the markets. They call it the English government but they hardly ever mention UK so you know that it is very bad indeed.

That poll adds up to

51% who would be happy / don't care

vs 38% angry / betrayed / disappointed

with 11% DK / DS

Jessica elgot @jessicaelgot
Looks like we could be in this for the long haul. In Downing Street briefing just now there were no guarantees of a vote before xmas, indeed no guarantees of one in January. No expectation of securing change needed by end of the week, even after dash round EU capitals & summit.

This is doing my blood pressure no good at all.

GD12 · 10/12/2018 17:36

Grinchly, nothing will become of it. He asked the government to have a vote.on the delay and they of course said no. He was angry but there's nothing he can do.

1tisILeClerc · 10/12/2018 17:37

{I believe that's a criminal offence. MNHQ might have to pull your post.}

On what grounds? They are all under age (14 1/2 max) and are armed with cunning rather than guns. They also value the concept of international friendship, a damn good campfire with things to grill/cremate but not necessarily excessive personal hygiene, especially if it is cold out.

Grinchly · 10/12/2018 17:38

They said no? I missed that...

BigChocFrenzy · 10/12/2018 17:38

£1.00 = $1.26 = €1.11
Slid a bit, but no crash ... yet

The Pound sagged Monday after GDP data confirmed the economy remains on course for its weakest annual performance since the financial crisis,
at the start of a week set to be dominated by events in Westminster.

Grieve is not as clever as some people think

I don’t think people think he is that clever, he did what he could. There’s not much manouevering room open to him.

plaidlife · 10/12/2018 17:39

What is Labour doing ????

GD12 · 10/12/2018 17:40

Grinchly. All the need to do is shout "tomorrow" tonight at 8pm as Robert Peston has just tweeted.

There is no opposition and that’s when dangerous issues occur....there is no balance of opposing argument from Labour. I like Corbyn but he’s a pisspoor leader.

Another day of shame: May delays Brexit vote as no-deal suicide pact looms

The headline pretty much sums up the state of things.

Thanks GD12 I am shamefully ignorant on certain aspects of this.
