Brexit

Adult couple and a toddler - what would you be sure to stash?

Hey all! With things looking like they are more than a little rocky when it comes to Brexit, I am very much in the camp that I would rather be safe than sorry and having some essentials stashed to me is just a wise thing to do... but knowing me I am probably missing a few things!

So my question is this, if your household consisted of two adults and a toddler what would you make sure you had stashed and how much would you get (presuming space isn’t an issue)?

I would say my main concern is for my toddler as worse case senario me and the hubby can live off pasta for a little while, but he’s obviously got a lot of growing to do and I don’t want his health to be effected if it all goes badly and there are food shortages (hopefully we will all be pleasantly surprised....!)

Thanks all!

Treats including chic or whatever have a lovely and slightly pompous prepper name of "morale boosters ". I'm more a Snickers person myself and you can bet your arse we have some in. And toothpaste 😃

BiscuitsMcSnugglepuff · 17/11/2018 13:28

Haha I will have to have a just in case morale booster section... Aldi dark choc for me drools that stuff is divine!

People assume prepping is all about spam and dried beans. I'm ok with the latter. The former makes me vomit.
We have choc and alcohol as well as the sensible stuff. I may grow my own spinach but I love Prosecco.

Don't worry about your spinach, I won't be fighting you for it.

Most generic medicines come from India. That’s the danger here — currently all of the UK trade agreements with India and China are through the EU so I would personally stock pile on them first.

I luvs me spinach @1tisILeClerc . Secret of my strength . And my cheese sandwiches.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 17/11/2018 14:21

I’m partial to a bounty myself....

Better add that to the list. Just in case Wink

Omg, spam 🤢 Admittedly I haven’t ever eaten it but just the picture on the tin makes me gag... looks nasty! Is spinach quite easy to grow? If so might add it too the list of growable stuffs!

Perpetual spinach is dead easy to grow. Doesn't take up a lot of space. Pick young leaves for salad and it keeps coming back.

Brilliant, thanks!

Just thought I would swing by again and give a little tip to anyone interested... I was looking for tinned fruit to add to my stash but most had dates for mid next year (Aldi/Asda) and I ideally wanted a little longer...

Nipped to Sainsbury’s today and they are all mid 2020! So for whatever reason they have much better dates (around my way anyway!) 😊

Thank you. Well spotted.

I am not in the U.K. but this thread makes me sad. I feel for you all with so much uncertainty right now having to stock up on food and meds. It is shocking that the vote was ever put to the public and now knowing the damage it may cause shocking that no one can stop it.

bellinisurge · 29/11/2018 13:48

It is ridiculous @LegoPiecesEverywhere . I wish we would stop and actually think how messed up this is. That I have a genuine possibility of wondering if there will be food and meds readily available and reasonably priced. Or available at all.
I've lived and worked a country with that as part of the daily grind. It's ghastly. Not some fecking Mrs Miniver (google it) theme park.
