After Brexit (especially after a hard Brexit) the UK will be desperate for new Free Trade Agreements.

Out single biggest trade partner is the US so is the obvious place to start. The Brexiteers such as Ian Duncan Smith and Rees Mogg have stated such.

But

Donald Trump’s trade chief has urged Britain’s rivals to exploit the “God-given opportunity” of Brexit to steal business from the UK.

Being desperate is not a great point to start a negotiation as we have just found out with the EU.

Who expected anything else?

SoloD · 19/08/2018 09:39

It's what we expected but I did not think they would be so blatant about it. With friends like that who needs enemies.

Lovely. The US & their appalling food standards. Bleuch.

If our Politicians weren't so blinkered with their belief in the 'Special Relationship' which has been dead for at least 60 years, then they would have seen this coming, right from pre-War times.

The US & their appalling food standards
Say hello to chlorinated chicken!

SisyphusDad · 19/08/2018 09:57

The US doesn't want a free trade agreement. It just wants the ability to sell us more of their low quality crap.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 17:36

That’s what the 17 million want apparently.
