To ask if anyone is considering stockpiling

Just that really, given that the government asking industry to stockpile food and medicines has been all over the news in the past week, I was wondering how many people are planning on stockpiling themselves and if so what are you going to stockpile and how much?
TBH my main concern is long term medication that I’m on, but as it’s only available on prescription and Dr wouldn’t let me order more than I need, so there’s nothing I can do about that anyway!

Looks like some local councils are taking it seriously and considering interruption to the food and medicine supply....

I’m sure there will still be food in the shops, maybe just not the food you want or like. If the transition goes smoothly, then great. I’m happy for the gloaters to come on and tell me I was wrong. At least I’ll still have all that lovely food to live off for a while and won’t have to go out shopping, when the shitty winter weather is here.

Well exactly. I got snowed in twice in March. It took until mid-April for the supply chains to recover. I live in a farming area. It produces food. But this doesn't help in March in the snow. If I happen to have loo roll, soap, toothpaste and lentil stew packs, great. It doesn't really affect anyone else, if I buy that stuff gradually rather than panic buy.

Elements sadly I think they could have got that comment from many places!

I live in a city and the weather still impacts on food supply, coupled with panic buying, when there’s a weather warning, the shelves can quite often be cleared of certain foods. Anyone I’ve spoken too, has said they’re getting a ‘few extras in, just in case’, re Brexit. I’m prepping now, because I’ve a feeling there will be a hell of a lot of people, last minute stocking up. Of course they’re completely different from the ‘paranoid preppers’. 😉

Yy perf - I'm not prepping solely because of brexit, I'm prepping because I know that as D Day approaches the UK is going to panic like they do when there is a single snowflake in the air. I'd rather be able to avoid that and stay home, eating my beans and lentils Grin

Brexit + bad weather + poor harvests = perfect storm. There’s no way I want to be shopping for food in that, even if there's the slightest whiff of unrest. Not if a bit of foresight can avoid the situation. I don’t expect prolonged food supply problems (hope I’m not wrong about that!)

I don’t trust the great British public not to panic buy at the last minute either.

Now it's getting real - NFU predicts UK would run out of food within 4 months of Brexit > www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/07/uk-run-out-of-food-no-deal-brexit-national-farmers-union

Without rationing, my prediction is 4 days, not 4 months.
