Yay for the blue passports.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all

May next year bring us £350 million for the NHS, cake, unicorns, financial passporting, access to the single market, Irish love and of course control to the people.

(Apologies been up to my eyeballs. Normal service will resume after Christmas).

Some wit posted something along the lines of "No Donald, your button only looks bigger because of your tiny hands"!

Violetparis · 03/01/2018 13:07

Thanks for link to Toby Young petition.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 03/01/2018 13:20

Ha! I meant opposing Toby's appointment, not Boris, though it's astounding he's still in post too

BiglyBadgers · 03/01/2018 13:26

Congratulations to RedToothBrush on your Services to Mumsnet award. You will have to start putting an acronym after your name Grin Flowers

mrsreynolds · 03/01/2018 13:29

Thanks
Signed and shared

RhuBarbarella · 03/01/2018 13:34

Hey Red, you got a mug! Congratulations, very much deserved!

Meanwhile Sunny Hundal is asking for an MP to read out some of Toby Young's tweets in Parliament and get the government to justify them.
I read him (TY) say he shouldn't be judged on these but on his actions but I'm not sure these tweets don't qualify as actions to be judged on. Nasty cuntery.

In more abhorrent news:

Windsor council calls for removal of homeless people before royal wedding

www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/03/windsor-council-calls-removal-homeless-people-before-royal-wedding?CMP=twt_gu

KennDodd · 03/01/2018 15:33

I would completely support that if it meant removal by giving them all a home and any support they needed to live in it. Suspect that's not what it means though.

DGRossetti · 03/01/2018 16:18

Be interested to know what Harrys views were on the homeless pogrom. I can guarantee he wasn't consulted.

It says something (not sure what) when the Royal family get the same treatment as the rest of us untermensch.

As a republican, I''m not a massive Royal fan. But Harrys heart seems to be in the right place ...

Has anyone heard anymore about the suggestion that Barack Obama should not be invited, in case it upset diddy Donald ?

Eeeeeowwwfftz · 03/01/2018 16:52

Well done Red... though I hope this won't lead to another flurry of mansplaining.

TheElementsSong · 03/01/2018 17:04

Oh congratulations RTB on services to MN! Where is this news, has somebody got a link?

DGRossetti · 03/01/2018 17:15

Interesting case about FOI requests today ...

IANAL but it seems that the court was very unimpressed that the ICO took the governments word over the need for secrecy without making their own assessment.

Especially as they have a statutory power to do so.

Worth bearing in mind, when we're told how secrecy is part and parcel of Brexit.

Fawful · 03/01/2018 17:19

It's in 'site stuff' elements, about threads of the year. Smile
Thank you again for your threads from me RTB, always lurking and v grateful.

CardinalSin · 03/01/2018 17:39

That must have stuck in MNHQ's craw. They seemed to be on the side of the Brexit bots...

mrsreynolds · 03/01/2018 17:39

Yay!!

Well done red

When fascists fall out … Boo bloody hoo

Trump Tower meeting with Russians 'treasonous', Bannon says in explosive book

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/03/donald-trump-russia-steve-bannon-michael-wolff

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described
the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as

“treasonous” and “unpatriotic”,
according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian.

Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted:

“They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.”

< I wonder if Bannon bothered to write anything about Farage ? Hmm >

SwedishEdith · 03/01/2018 17:43

Well done red. Instead of assuming everyone just wants the click-bait threads, good to see lots of posters push back saying we want to actually learn stuff as well.

BigChocFrenzy · 03/01/2018 17:45

cardinal I think MNHQ are very fair about allowing debate on Brexit - and on trans issues too, which is much braver

MN is one of the few areas left for civilised debate on controversial subjects
Especially for women
No death threats etc allowed here

prettybird · 03/01/2018 17:47

We may well be at risk of an influx of Mansplaining or BexitBots as a result of the recognition from MNHQ Hmmbut we know what to do Wink

CardinalSin · 03/01/2018 17:50

BigChoc, I just found that during the referendum they were very complicit in allowing the Brexit Bots to get people deleted for nothing at all, amongst other things.

woman11017 · 03/01/2018 17:58

I agree BigChoc kudos to MN; where else is there a space for women to discuss this? And as you say, the feminism threads are massively important in british feminism right now. Essential.
