That second photo with the dreadlocks would go very nicely on the dartboard. Double top with extra smugface

InfiniteSheldon · 20/11/2016 06:41

Are we all avoiding the A50 March issue? Is it just too depressing? I'm sort of quite hopeful I think TM is determined and the petition for hard Brexit, signed by 60 (?) MPs will give her a bit of backing. Corbyn is struggling to oppose her as well he must know a huge swathe of his core voters want it triggered (137 Labour seats were for Leave).. JC is between the devil and the deep blue he either sides with TM or he goes against the wishes of his core voters and his secret desires.

surferjet · 20/11/2016 09:07

I'm confident too.

How can we not Brexit? The UK, after the U.S, is one of the biggest 'sticking our noses in' countries for 'helping the poor people' spreading democracy & fairness.
How can we ever be credible again if we ignore democracy in our own country & tell 'the people' to fuck off because it's not the vote the elite wanted?

I am very confident. Lets see what the appeal comes up with and then I will review my thoughts.

The only slight concern I have is endless court cases and interjections and appeals but I assume in such circumstances there will be a limit.

winterisnigh · 20/11/2016 10:05

More fabulous pictures Mango. Id love to post the " I am a tolerant liberal " on my FB page Grin

InfiniteSheldon · 20/11/2016 10:36

Me too ^^

RortyCrankle · 20/11/2016 10:36

Morning everyone - may I nominate Emma Thompson for the dartboard for her description of this wonderful country as 'a tiny little cloud-bolted, rainy corner of sort-of Europe ... a cake-filled misery-laden grey old island'. I've never been successful at including a photo in a post so a photo of your choice would be great.

I recently had my knuckles rapped by MNHQ and so have tried to resist reading this and other boards where some posts make my blood pressure rise and I might respond 'inappropriately' but it's a hard habit to break. Then I succumb and read a thread on here where there's yet another Remainer joyfully salivating at the prospect of someone being unemployed, in this case because his parents voted Leave and I have to resist telling them exactly what I think of them. My only comfort is knowing whatever I say or do, I can never sink to their level.

Re the A50 in March - I feel reasonably hopeful. It's a long wait and I won't really be happy until it happens and will then feel assured there's no going back.

InfiniteSheldon · 20/11/2016 10:44

Flowers for the knuckle rapping I've had my only ever deletion on mn when Small and Bear goaded me on an early referendum thread sometimes you have to take a step back. I do read some of the other threads but take comfort in the fact that mn seems to bring out the worst in the most ardent Remainers and rl is very different.

BoredofBrexit · 20/11/2016 11:34

Morning all.
I find I am venturing less onto other boards which are still filled with posters relentlessly decrying people who voted opposite to them as stupid etc for choosing a different future to the one they had imagined for themselves. They are filled with hate for those that they have decided do not identify as one of them, and wish them and the country ill. The pompous sneering. The joy they take in trashing every action or announcement the government makes. They want it all just to go back to they way they thought it was before- except it wasn't, except in their bubble

BoredofBrexit · 20/11/2016 11:37

I don't think the a50 will be served anytime soon but I hope I am wrong. I don't mean that I don't think Brexit will happen - it will - but I think it wil take a different route entirely.

howabout · 20/11/2016 12:03

I think the time is approaching when A50 will have to be triggered to preserve the political process. The World looks very different post Trump and the upcoming elections in Italy, France and Germany are already starting to reframe the status quo and the likely direction of travel.

LittlePickleHead · 20/11/2016 12:05

How is Brexit going to be a success if the population as a whole is so polarised? So separated? I don't want to moan or hate anyone, I don't want anyone to suffer or lose their jobs or become poorer. I don't want to be mocked and told to "go to the remainers pub" because it's more convenient for my point of view to be hidden from you.

And if you are wondering why you might give a fig about all those Remain voters actually buying in to your agenda - ask yourself which program of change of such a scale and complexity, across politics economics and socially, has worked out well without the vast majority of its population behind it.

Probably the closest thing to Brexit is the democratization of the Eastern bloc. And that took decades and almost everyone wanted it to happen.

It's all very well laughing and making jokes about other people based on how they voted (both sides equally guilty).

But if you want it Brexit to be a success you have to understand the real fears people have and get us on board! Saying "we voted so tough" won't cut it.

We all want the same thing in the end - a successful UK that works for majority of the population. That is NEVER going to happen, whether we Brexit or not, with such a deeply divided population.

Saying "get over it" isn't going to work, surely you can see that? I would love to see proper engagement between the two sides to work out a pragmatic way forward.

Is this possible? I'm so depressed about the divisions in our country right now.

MangoMoon · 20/11/2016 12:06

I saw something this weekend about the EU arm twisting us into a hard Brexit.
Apparently they're worried that if we get an 'amicable divorce, with good terms' other countries will follow.

Yet again, rather than looking at why countries may want to leave, and considering reform - they go straight for the:
'we're right, you just don't see it, we're obviously failing on the message, if you try to break away or in anyway go against us we'll punish you'.

Has pushed me more towards just a clean break/hard Brexit now, even though I wasn't of that mind before.

Wrt another referendum - I think the margin for Leave would be much, much higher if it was rerun.

MangoMoon · 20/11/2016 12:13

LittlePickle, with respect, the posters on this thread have often tried to engage respectfully with others.

After nearly 6 months of being called 'racist, thick, xenophobic, little-englander etc etc' it gets very wearing.
This still goes on on mn an elsewhere.

When people engage on a mutually respectful level, I do too - when they don't, I lose interest within seconds.

RortyCrankle · 20/11/2016 12:14

Thanks Infinite and totally agree - in RL my Leave and Remain friends and I can have perfectly civilized conversations, effectively resulting in us agreeing to disagree. None have called me thick or racist or xenophobic (would be a bit ridiculous since some of them aren't from the UK) and they have more or less accepted the result.

The remainers on here are a whole different species as far as I can see - filled with hate and spite - can't be good for their health.

Bored what do you think will happen then? I don't mind how it happens, as long as it happens and am trying to be patient with the length of time it is taking.

^ Does this man have no shame, no sense of self!

Do not read if you have BP issues.

Flowers to Rorty, Its difficult to stay civil in the face of the sheer hounding and abuse some leavers have had to endure. Sad but, we march on, on wards and up wards Grin

winterisnigh · 20/11/2016 12:30

BTW I too have tried to stay away from such boards but I am thrilled we have this little jovial corner to come too, and warm our hands by the fire Smile it also makes others aware, we are the leavers and we most certainly do not regret our descion.

yes The EU is Alcatraz, the prison no one can ever leave.

If countries are not allowed to leave freely what motivation has the EU got to reform and keep moving forward in a positive way? This attitude underlines my belief that the powers that be simply do not care ita all about the end game in years, decades, centuries to come where they see a totally blended equal Eu state, all same economic level. Great idea just a shame about the sacrifices the ordinary folk on the ground have to suffer right now.

RortyCrankle · 20/11/2016 12:57

Hi Winterisnigh you're right - my blood pressure just shot through the roof reading that. He think's TM is a 'total lightweight'. I disagree but even if she was, at least she isn't a war criminal. He is loathsome.

Glances at clock and decides it's time to have a pre-lunch glass of sherry.

Wine cheers to you all.

MangoMoon · 20/11/2016 13:03

*Last month he said voters must be given the chance to chair their minds on the EU and called for the losing Remain campaign to become the 'new insurgents'.
He issued a rallying cry in an article in the New European newspaper, urging supporters of Britain's membership of the EU to mobilise, organise and to 'prise apart the alliance which gave us Brexit'.
He told Remain voters to 'believe in the people's innate sense, that they're also open to a better argument in the light of the facts as they come to light'. *

Like all good dictators & war thirsty narcissists, that man has no shame, no self awareness and a hide thicker than a rhino.

Yet again it's the message that People Must Be Made To Buy Into.
He's basically trying to whip up the population of the uk into infighting.

Not content with bringing war to people in other countries, causing death and life changing physical & mental injuries to hundreds of thousands (his own military personnel included) - he now seems intent on whipping up a civil war in this country.

Whilst the majority of people want to work together and move on, a small number of vocal crazies on either side are spoiling for a fight (the mad racists of the far right & the thought police fascists of the far left).
Tony fucking Blair appears to be hell bent on working hard to tap right into this and stir up as much shit as he can:

^"...new insurgents...[supporters of the EU] organise and pry apart the alliance which gave us Brexit...believe [that Leavers] are open to a better argument..."
^
Fucking war mongering, blood thirsty, no shame, lying, cheating, 2-faced cunt.

I hate him.

MangoMoon · 20/11/2016 13:05

Ha! Rorty, my blood pressure shot RIGHT up when I read the Tony Blair thing!

I don't post on other ref threads anymore, I'm not interested in hearing what fanatic remainers hope happens to us ( illness, job loss, etc ) the more hateful they become, & the more they spill that hate all over the Internet, the more people will see them for what they are.

Their cover has been blown.
They hate people.
They can't get over the ordinary pleb in the street actually using democracy to benefit them.
It's a bit painful to watch ( who could forget smallfox? ) but that's just the way it is.
