I agree - complete and utter cognitive dissonance. I for one now hope that "Brexit Means Brexit" is also a lie.

I think there's a combination of tradition and personality traits that mean the ones so far that make it to the top tend to be of a certain background and a slightly manipulative/deceptive/snaky personality that helps get them there. More often than not the honourable ones don't fight dirty and may not have the same connection to push them up.

Yep. She's pretty right wing. Of course they all give the soft, caring speech at the beginning....
