Test to become a British citizens really difficult

hello, now we are out of Europe need to apply for British passport I found it very stressful need to pass a test life in UK , ESOL test , Is someone in the same situation can give me a clue. Beeing living in this country for 20 years been naturalise since 2005 my kids are British but never bother to apply for the passport and introduicing the test did not help and the fee which is £1000.
I ahve just talking to a place where they do test it seem a bit complicated need to pay to registrar for assessement . Please help me if anybody knows the route or do I have to hired a solicitor for that . Thanks

The test is before you are naturalised.

You do not require it to apply for a passport, just your naturalisation documents..

I don't know if it's been changed in the last 8 or so years but when I took it it was indeed very hard. We were given a book of dry text and tables of statistics. And then we were given multiple choice questions on those statistics. Like, a table showing the religious break-down of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. A question could be "What percentage of Wales is Buddhist?" There was no "big picture." It was literally memorizing and regurgitating statistics.

You are made to swear never to reveal the questions you are asked. Thank Fuck plenty of people disregarded that because I was able to find plenty of example questions on the Internet and therefore knew what to study for.

I suggest Googling for the same. You won't find every question but you'll know what sort of thing they're looking for.

I did the test last year. You can buy a book to study from which covers all the knowledge needed to pass. There is also another book of sample tests to give you an idea on what sort of questions to expect. All the questions are multiple choice. You definitely need to prepare for the test, but I wouldn't say it's particularly hard, if you've lived here 20 years you will know a lot of it anyway

But, just reread your OP - if you've been naturalised in 2005 then you are a British citizen already, aren't you?

Get the book published by the government, and study it. There are also books of sample tests, which are helpful.

Most British people would not pass without studying the book, either, as it includes statistical information about the population, and details of laws which are not necessarily day to day knowledge.

Yes I need to do the ESOL test cost £150 , and the Life in UK test £50 and the application £1200 all together £1700 how HIlarious in that I think that a lot it only in the Uk they charge so much why ?

Your OP is confusing. Surely if you have been naturalised since 2005 then you just need to apply for the passport with your documentation?

Well, they want to charge 3k+ if DH wants to move to the UK, so I think you're getting a bargain in comparison.
