How will farmers be affected, especially Northern Ireland

Just that. There will be so many areas trying to get Westminster to replace EU funding. It is interesting how the farmers think that not only will the subsidies be replaced, but they may even get more money. So, in effect, the farmers may have voted Leave for extra subsidies.

It is not as if there is going to be a shortage of orange marches this month.

But I digress. Waiting eagerly to see farmers get more money in subsidies after Brexit. Johnson guaranteed at least the same.

The subsidies were well overdue a reform. So that will be good.

There are too many retired and inefficient farmers being paid tens of thousands a year to coast along. And the change from being paid to farm to being paid to look after the countryside was too drastic.

Personally I'd like to see fewer subsidies and a cap on cheap low welfare imports. With lower subsidies rents would come down and we'd lose the culture of elderly farmers hanging onto holdings for the SFP and either doing nothing with the land or renting it out for vastly inflated amounts.

I think farming needs this. I know people who just coast along relying on their SFP and doing bugger all all year. That needs to end.

I don't know about NI specifically though.

Each person pays £22 pound into Europe and the country gets £9 back.
On those figures, we should have a significant amount of money to divvy up.
Who knows how much the farmers get.
It causes rivalry round out way, the way it is distributed seems quite arbitrary.

fucti, £22 invested and 9 back, per person. So are you saying it is as simple as all that. A £13 loss per person with nothing in return. No manifold returns in trade worth billions of pounds.

I agree animal welfare is very important. Of course, not all farming is livestock.

The figure was from a Guardian infographic prior to the election. It showed how much each country put in and how much they got back.
It also broke down per capita how much each European citizen paid and effectively got back.
