I want in because I am a lawyer and I would have to learn lots of new laws if we left

My mum wants out because she likes to get one over on me

OP posts:

Farage is likely to have more power if we don't leave as many more people will vote for ukip

MyKingdomForBrie · 13/06/2016 22:54

Sticking to the selfish reasons as per the OP - I don't want my newly purchased house to disappear into negative equity and am terrified we would lose it, having only just managed to get one with a nursery and garden for my baby.

Why can so many not see the economic crisis that will follow a brexit.

borntohula · 13/06/2016 22:55

because it would piss off Britain First

oldestmumaintheworld · 13/06/2016 22:56

I'm voting to remain because I believe in the EU, but selfishly I want to see Boris fall on his stupid, fat, smug arse. I also want to enjoy watching the Tory party implode afterwards. Not that I'm biased or anything (much).

onecurrantbun1 · 13/06/2016 22:57

II want the feed in tariff payments for solar panels to continue long enough for me to convince my parents to get solar panels. We get £100 for referring a friend to the company we used.

There are loads of reasons to vote remain, but this is my most selfish, most niche, and least important

clarinsgirl · 13/06/2016 23:01

Because I love open water swimming, especially in the sea and I don't want to go back to a sea full of tampons and shit.

clarinsgirl · 13/06/2016 23:02

Sorry for double post

steppemum · 13/06/2016 23:06

my dh is dutch.
I want him to be able to stay with no visa
I want to be able to travel back and forth from UK to Holland, and on holiday in France etc without hassle.
I don't want him to have to relinquish his own nationality in order to get UK residency.
The same applies to all my non British friends.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/06/2016 07:38

Clarinsgirl, the same had occurred to me re swimming in rivers - we have the EU to thank for the fact that they are now lovely and clean again.

SueTrinder · 14/06/2016 07:43

My best friend is Spanish. I don't want her to have to leave!

mollie123 · 14/06/2016 07:46

it is telling that most of the 'selfish' reasons are voiced by the IN voters - says it all really
my selfish reason for wanting to 'leave' is so I can feel vindicated against the selfish 'in voters' and the ridiculous reasons they give for their choice and especially smug David Cameron. Smile

Branleuse · 14/06/2016 07:51

most selfish reason is I want to be able to move to France easily, but its not really selfish, as I want everyone to be able to move around the EU and for my children to be able to keep their choices

genome · 14/06/2016 07:53

Remain as my husband has a Dutch passport (snap steppe) and I don't want us to be forced into a difficult visa situation where we might be separated as a family. Bollocks to all the 'It isn't going to happen, those that are here will be allowed to stay' shit, have you seen how non-EU spouses (even those with British children) are treated! It's only a matter of time before it would be the same for EU-spouses.

Timeforabiscuit · 14/06/2016 07:53

My most selfish reason is to leave because eu procurement regulations are a pain in the arse red taped monster. I could focus on the best way to swiss cheese existing service so they save the required 20% on contract rather than worrying about a legal challenge about who gets the scraps.

I wont leave because I'll have even less money to put into a service, got more faith the eu will distribute funds fairly even if their counting is dodgy.

genome · 14/06/2016 07:55

Really mollie....Hmm are clean seas and clean air selfish?!

Millyonthefloss · 14/06/2016 07:59

Re holiday money Even Leavers admit that the pound is going to have a wobble on Brexit. But isn't the euro going to have an even bigger wobble?

tiredmummy1991 · 14/06/2016 08:00

You can only buy Milky Way stars in the EU. That's a good enough reason for me.

gunting · 14/06/2016 08:08

Because we are the only generation how hasn't seen Europe at war and I don't want that to change

Starspread · 14/06/2016 08:22

Most selfish? Because I have loads of friends who'd have to leave the UK if we left, so I'm voting IN in the hope it won't decimate my social life.

MrsBlackthorn · 14/06/2016 08:26

Same here. My French/Spanish/German friends and colleagues are devastated.

I genuinely can't believe this is actually happening. The country is about to voluntarily walk into a recession, job losses and social unrest, for no defined outcome - listening to Preeti Patel on the radio just now, it's clear these people do not have a plan at all.

mollie123 · 14/06/2016 08:33

and what I said about ridiculous reasons for staying in are shown in the last few posts. Do you REALLY imagine that all waterways will become polluted and all europeans will be rounded up and shipped across the channel and we will have world war 3 - jeez the scare-mongering is getting through
Shock

CremeBrulee · 14/06/2016 08:38

Remain for lots of sensible reasons. And because I'm terrified that FIL and his wife will have to repatriate from France if we leave. My granny flat is empty and its staying that way!

kirinm · 14/06/2016 08:40

Gilly - you won't as nobody will be able to move if they're in negative equity.

My selfish reason, buying a flat and don't want to lose money before we've moved in.

Other reason, firms in my industry and stopped recruitment which has the potential to be long term if we leave. Employers will have us over a barrel.

MrsBlackthorn · 14/06/2016 08:42

I don't think my European pals will be rounded up, no. But if we leave Europe on a wave of anti-immigration feeling, do you honestly think people will be happy with all of the current immigrants after all? Or that they will accept an EEA agreement with free movement?

So we could easily end up with economic suicide (no trading agreements) at best - or worse, a country which is increasingly hostile to immigrants, so that my friends and family no longer feel welcome and leave.
