Ethical IFA recommendations please

I want to find an IFA to advise me on ethical investments. I've looked on various portal places, but I'd really like a personal recommendation - I want to end up with someone good, not just someone with a good website...

Don't know where you're based, but I occasionally speak to The Ethical Partnership. They have a few offices, but all in hampshire I think.

Have you tried www.unbiased.co.uk? I'm not sure, but there's loads of search options on there for IFAs, and you may be able to search by specialists in ethical investments.

To be honest, most IFAs should have at least a reasonable working knowledge of ethical investment, as a significant percentage of clients now want some ethical considerations taken into account.

I'm in East Anglia, but I'm happy to deal with an IFA by phone / email, as my financial affairs aren't complex.

I did try unbiased - I emailed two IFAs in my area who said they offered ethical advice. One replied saying he hadn't really done any ethical stuff in several years, the other didn't respond.

I guess that the ethical market is still small enough that any IFA could keep up-to-speed on the best bits of it fairly easily. So maybe all I want is a good IFA. Still don't know how to find one though!

We took out a couple of ethical isa's through Barchester Green they only deal in ethical investments and were happy to travel to visit us in Hampshire from Bristol to see us. They don't sell anything that is not ethical so I did get a little embarrassed when they looked at my existing portfolio of shares having spent years working for major petrochemical and gas companies and they passed DW's tests that they followed correct procedures (she is FPC qualified but works in compliance not advice)

Lurkingdad - thanks for the recommendation. Their site looks really good.
