Encouragement for more simple living

I have been on holiday, reading Mumsnet and thinking simplicity/slower living.
I have always loved clothes! ..that’s my downfall!
I work so time is more limited.
My values are simple , caring for others, giving back/.. but you wouldn’t think that looking at my wardrobe!
My home is simple with second hand furniture.
Looking for some support and encouragement.

Have you considered that clothes too, can be 2nd hand from charity shops?
You could escape fast fashion (if you use that) and also shift some of what you wear less by donating it where it will raise money to a cause you like.
That way you'd be very well dressed, more originally, while polluting less, and accumulating less...
Just a thought of course, ignore this if it's not helpful.

I can relate! I love clothes!

However, I do want to live without plastic. I can’t do it 100%, but I’d say I’m about 90% there. That means avoiding polyester and pretty much any synthetic materials.

When you can only buy clothes made from cotton, linen, silk, cashmere or a combination of those, you’re very limited in what you can wear. Even expensive clothes these days are 100% polyester, so it really has nothing to do with the price.

I sold about 70% of my wardrobe and have slowly built back up by buying pieces I’m happy with. I’m actually very happy knowing I’m not breathing in microplastics all day — as much as I love clothes, they’re just not worth it to me.
