Where to recycle 20+ year old mobile phones

Found a few old Nokia’s when helping to clear a house. The sims are out but we haven’t found the chargers so no idea if they’ll power up.

They’re not smart phones so nothing important on there other than some phone numbers (most people have probably passed away) . Not looking for money, I don’t want to just bin them though.

online searches of charities don’t seem to help for those that don’t power up and Tesco mobile say they’ll accept one old one when you buy a new one.

Anyone know where will accept them for recycling?

My local John Lewis has an electrical recycling point for small electrical items, so I'd probably take mine there. Anywhere which sells electrcial (which I assume includes phones) is supposed to accept old ones for recycling, even if not bought from there.

This also said my nearest Curry's will take them: recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/

Thanks all. I think I must have got my wires crossed as I thought that shops are only obliged to accept electricals etc if I’d bought something from them.

our council also recycles electrical items but I thought mobiles had to have a more specialist waste stream?

sounds like I’ve been overthinking it all!

Dropped them into curry’s. Got 3 £5 vouchers valid until the end of April. If anyone would like one let me know (they have to be used separately)

Glad you found somewhere to recycle them! Didn't realise they gave you vouchers too, that's good.
