Eggshells on the bird table?

I wasn't sure whether to put this in pets or gardening or here...

I have it in my head that you can put eggshells out with seeds etc on the bird table, does anyone know whether this is the case? Or is it a bit weird? Hen's eggs...

I wouldn't - you may be encouraging them to eat eggshells, with potentially poor outcomes for their chicks. We never gave shells to the hens for this reason.
