Using soapnuts - quick question from new user please

Hi, I'm (sadly) very excited about using my new soapnuts. It says in the info that you use 6-8 HALF shells per wash.

Does that ;mean you have to break them in half before you put them in? Can you not put in whole ones? Why does it keep talking about half ones? Thank you for any info.

I think you can use whole nuts or the equivalent in pieces (that's what I always do anyway and I haven't had any problems).

thanks Melissa. I just couldn't see why they talked about half shells if whole ones were ok. I'm sure they are though. Thanks.
