Ecological laundry help

I've just put a load of washing in and have finally decided that I need to stop with the chemicals, there are so many....detergent, conditioner, vanish for the whites, calgon as we are in hard water area.

However I love my clothes smelling fresh, and also dp works with products that need a good detergent to get clean. Can't stand the smell of fairy (put up with it when kids were little!) And don't have the funds to try a lot of new stuff if it doesn't work and doesn't smell good! I am fighting limescale constantly so anything that will protect my machine is also welcome!

Help please there is so much out there! I like the look of the bower stuff, with the refills that you send back to be reused, has anyone used this and will it fulfill my aims?

Or does anyone have any other good recommendations?

Thank you!

I'm in a hard water area and use soda crystals to soften the water. They're cheap and eco friendly.

I've been trying a few eco laundry products recently, at the moment I'm using Ecozone as it was on offer. It's working well and has a nice light scent. I'm using ecover softener, the one with the yellow lid.

Still use bio powder for whites, but I get sainsburys own brand as it is not tested on animals.

4 cups organic soap flakes
2 cups washing soda crystals
2 cups borax substitute
30 drops essential oil - I use eucalyptus
Mix together and store in a glass jar. For a fabric conditioner and softener, I use white vinegar with lavender essential oil. Again, mix together and keep in a jar.

Both work brilliantly. 🙏

Also interested in a good nice smelling laundry powder and fabric conditioner and something to make whites white!

With smelly messy teens and husband I really want something that works well. I also what to buy in bulk sizes if possible

Thanks
