Solid shampoo and conditioner recommendations please!

Am looking for solid shampoo and conditioner recommendations please. Would ideally like to be palm oil and sls free and not lush as don't really get on with a lot of their products.
Have been looking at the lamazuna but they don't seem to do a conditioner and also would just like some opinions of those who have tried it. Thanks in advance!

I tried Friendly shampoo bars, but couldn't get on with them - left my hair feeling waxy. Read similar about other SLS free bars, so am hoping someone can suggest something else.

I've bought from Amica soaps - only £2.50 a bar, great service but also couldn't last the distance with them

I've also been using a Friendly shampoo bar, I have extremely dry hair, but it is leaving my hair lank and waxy too.

I’ve not found any that work - tried lush, tried a couple I bought online and in a local health food shop - they all seem ok at first then after a couple of weeks my hair is greasy, lank and just generally horrible. Work nice instead of shower gel for body but just can’t get on with them.

Lovely local man to us makes soaps and shampoo bars in his kitchen. Met him through work as he's a chemistry graduate from the uni I work for and has set up his own business. He sells through local farmers markets and online Nottingham soapbox

It's not difficult to find shampoo bars online. However, it's very difficult to find one that works. Personally, I wouldn't try any more without some credible reviews. Lush bars work for me. I would happily buy some from a start-up if there was a chance they'd work.

It's not like soap - you can buy a bar of soap that you don't like, but it's still soap that you can use. Not so with a shampoo bar that leaves your hair feeling awful. Mine ended up as expensive kitchen soap.

I’ve been using the lush shampoo, I think it’s “honey I washed my hair” and their green conditioner bar. For about 6 months. They’re fine for me, the shampoo especially. I’ve just run out and have bought from “peace with the wild” a fenugreek shampoo, an orange one and a conditioner this one www.peacewiththewild.co.uk/product/solid-conditioner-bar-normal-hair-105g/. Not actually used them yet. Bit £££ but I expect them to last 6 months so not so bad I guess.

I used to use bars for a long time but it started to actually really damage my hair so I'm giving up now and just about to start trying soap nuts. Not sure how it will be but have read good things about it.

I currently use ethitique and love them but would really like a recommendation from somewhere other than lush where you can buy in a shop as so far everything I’ve ordered online comes in so much useless packaging

I’ve popped on this board to ask about shampoo bars, but it seems lots of them aren’t great. I bought one from lush, the honey one, which smells brilliant, but my hair doesn’t feel clean and looks awful after using it for less than a month. Do you think it is worth trying another from the same brand or going for a different one altogether. Or are the just not great across the board?

We've tried Waves (uk.lush.com/products/shampoo/waves) and like it.

I would like to use a non-Lush one but I can't find one that seems to work.

I've got horribly dry hair - any suggestions - no Lush please (on my boycott list!)

I've heard shampoo bars don't work if you have hard water. Interested to see if anyone has found one that does

PPs trying solid shampoo and finding it leaves a waxy residue - please read Friendly Soaps advice on the vinegar rinse and bicarbonate rinse. Your hair adjusts I promise it's worth a try! Cheaper and lasts way way longer than lush which costs a fortune and dissolved into a jelly within a week!

Is there any way of getting bottles of decent shampoo where you can refill the bottles? Like body shop in the old days.

I've tried quite a few but the only ones that don't leave my hair like cardboard, or greasy, are the round Lush ones. I started using them last February and have only just started my third bar. You have to leave them to dry out between uses as if you put the lid on the tin while they're still wet they go quite gooey.
