Recycling/donating old TV

We have finally given in and bought a flat screen TV. Our old Panasonic works fine but is a chunky monster that dominated our living room. I would like someone else to get some use out of it, but have heard that they don't shift easily on Freecycle. Emmaus don't take them, and I assume that will be the case for other charities too.
Anyone got any brilliant alternatives to taking it to the tip - I would be very grateful!

Freecycle - give it away on there.

British Heart Foundation or Tomorrow People do there own electrical checks and will take them . Check on websites or ring your local shop.

TV now gone so I would try Freecycle.
